~The Next Day ~ Jade’s POV~

Natalie came over to the booth I was sitting in carrying our drinks. “You okay?”

I shook my head. I haven’t been fine since last night… Not since I found out that Peter had taken MJ to our spot… I know that the spot was originally Peter’s and it became our spot when he took me there, but he had known about it for a while and hadn’t told MJ or Ned about it. I asked him at one point if he would ever tell them about it or bring them there and he said no because he wanted it to be just for us, which is why this hurts me so much. “That was our spot… Our special spot… He told me it was only for us and he would never take anyone else there…”

“I know… When you told me about yours and Peter’s friendship, you mentioned that place and how much it meant to the two of you a lot…” She said, taking a sip of her coffee. “What did your spot look like?”

I sighed. “It’s hidden in the woods, it's really grassy, like a meadow or a garden, there’s a pretty big pond, or a small lake, whatever you want to call it. In the pond were some rocks that we would chill on sometimes, there were tall and thick bushes around the whole place and there’s a bench there like people used to go there. The door to the place is like a moveable bush, like there’s a certain bush that you can like push open, it’s pretty cool”

(Let’s just pretend a place like this can be in Manhattan in the woods that are totally in Manhattan)

“Sounds pretty cool” Natalie looked at me sympathetically. “I’m sorry that Peter is being such a dick…”

I shrugged. “It’s fine…”

Natalie sighed. “Jade, you need to tell him”

“He has a girlfriend-”

“So?!” She cut me off. “You can still tell him about your feelings… At least you can get them off your chest and if he likes you back then he’ll break up with MJ and then you’ll finally get your man”

I sighed, mentally facepalming. “Talie, I have a boyfriend”

Her face dropped. “Oh fuck, that’s right. Fucking Noah” She rolled her eyes. 

“What’s wrong with Noah?” I asked, crossing my arms. What does she have against Noah? 

Natalie’s eyes widened. “I uh… Nothing is wrong with Noah… He’s just… Creepy… I guess…” She shrugged. “I mean, last night and earlier today I was thinking about his behavior, it’s really weird… He never wants to come around, he never wants to go to any of the things we do, you disappear to his place and come back all jumpy and with bruises-” She grabbed my arm and flipped it to show a dark bruise on my forearm. I snatched my arm away. “-he gets really possessive over you. He’s… He’s kinda toxic, Java” 

I rolled my eyes. “Really? Java?” 

“What? It’s the J from Jade, then Ava, your middle name, but pronounced like Jaw-Va because you love coffee.” She smiled. “Perfect nickname!”

“Whatever.” I rolled my eyes again.

“Anyways, Noah isn’t toxic. He just doesn’t like people which is relatable”

Natalie shook her head. “Jade, this relationship isn’t healthy…”

“I don’t care about your opinion Natalie!” I snapped. This isn’t her relationship, it’s mine. Noah is… Is a good guy… She doesn’t need to get all up in my business.
