I was over you until you looked into the mirror
Opening your eyes and your mind
To me
Words captivated me
I always thought I would be leaving
Yet I remained and reminded myself
That this is what I one day would want
You forgot to tell me you loved
"You know..."
Something about me
But I wonder if you could ever
Actually love me
"I forgot to tell you..."
But even then I knew
"You make it look so easy..."
To question if I truly
Was the one for you
"I love it when you..."
And if you were the one
"I love it when you..."
For me
You know something about me
Yet you stand a stranger to me
But to my heart that once was
The opposite
We were so young
Never a dull moment
Yet never vivid anymore either
Just the memory of those eyes
Oh my, those eyes
Your gaze in the mirror
Catching a glimpse out of the corner
Of what you might've seen in me
Leaving my questions
About what I saw in you
Tonight you left this town
Tomorrow I will leave too
Another time
Another life
This life and the next
I'll be far away come evening
And you will remain close
But when you think about it
We could be closer
Than ever before
For others are foreign and homebound
We may be separate
Divided and forgotten
Yet closer from afar
Another time
Another time
I will see those eyes again
A thousand mirrors could reflect all the wonders
My gaze has offered
And in the end my vision
Retreats back to you
As yours reflects mine
With the remainder
Of time
Another time
Long before
We are the story
And remain
Distant.
