As I met her
I just want to make sure it is she
Who might mean something
To me
Write a confession, erase the stray marks and leave it behind
Paper airplanes in a pile
Paper cuts and leaves fall onto my window shield
Don't let the keys around my neck fool you
She's the girl behind the counter
I'm making my rounds and my way around this town
My town
That I have shared with her
I favor the temporary feeling of lovers
The desolate days away
From behind the counter
It's not like I don't want to
I just don't know how to
I don't know why
I will never meet her gaze
Leaning over the tabletop
I breathe her in
She smiles shortly afterwards
Oh, this is temporary
Distant from a moment
That could never be my forever
Never mirror the past
The rear view is so far away
And it could never be
The way I truly feel
The side conversations and catching glimpses
Oh god, this feeling
I'm no stranger to this confrontation
I'm alone
Driving home in the dark
Am I supposed to be alone?
Thinking about the checkout line
And the girl behind the counter.
