They're just strangers
It was a humid afternoon
And on nights like this I could hold my fury
Close to my chest
Though not tonight
Nor ever again
For they're just strangers
I was once unknown to me
I knew strangers more than myself
I am in awe of their fault
For I am the thorn in the side of their thread
Piercing the pieces they strive to tie together
I'm glad I don't remember
For they are not mine to claim
My life is my safehaven
On days like this I hold myself high
Embrace those days I said "goodbye"
I will never write about them
I will never write your names again
Your smile
Your photograph
Your words
Your memory
Discarded film in the form of scattered paper airplanes
Remember when we wished this would be forever?
And endless youth
Wouldn't that be nice?
I know my paradise
You'll never find yours
You are the bane of this town
Your pain is your paradise
You hold your bitterness
Above your head
All high and mighty
At least I have a halo now
We were never supposed to be
Forever
So in time when I see you again
You won't even remember my name
I'll forget your face
Erase your name
For your broken paradise
Is the bane of this town
And I am glad
I do not know you
Anymore.
