Chapter 23

Addison, Bree, and Bonzo, have been gone for two weeks now. Within those two weeks, A-Lora has spent a lot of time with Zed, Eliza, Zack, and Amelia. She's been drawing even closer to her friends and is happy to know that she has people that she can depend on.

A-Lora's missed her friends away at cheer camp so much and has written back and forth between Addison and Bree all the time after getting the address from Zed of course. But these days, with school starting in two weeks and everyone coming back from cheer camp next week, all Addison and Bree have been writing about are Zed and Bonzo. Everyone's entering their sophomore year this year, which means they'll all be able to attend prawn. Which A-Lora learned is basically a shrimp themed prom for sophomores.

Seabrook had officially revoked all of their anti-monster laws and that meant that everyone was even more excited to head back to school this year with many different avenues having been opened for the zombie students.

Having been able to see and witness all these changes take place made A-Lora extremely happy. She has been able to see that Seabrook just might  be a safe place for her after all. All she hoped for now was that Seabrook would continue to push forward and support all monster which in turn would hopefully mean that they would one day support aliens.

That morning, A-Lora was heading out to meet Eliza. She said she had important news to share with the girl. A-Lora wasn't sure if she should be worried as Eliza was always off in some type of trouble.

Nonetheless, she was still excited to catch up with Eliza. "Goodbye Amelia. Enjoy your time today." A-Lora says as she passes by the older woman who sat on the couch watching TV with Gadget. "Thank you dear. You enjoy your time out as well." She replies back from the couch waving her hand slightly turned towards the door.

Just as she leaves the house, A-Lora begins to make her way to a small shop over in Zombie Town where the two girls had agreed to meet at. Since the anti-monster laws were revoked, Zombie Town has been undergoing major construction. New buildings and homes were being put up all thought the town making it truly feel like a town to the zombies.

As A-Lora walks through the doors of the coffee shop, she was immediately greeted by a cozy warm environment and the smell of honey. Soft music hummed in the background, too low for her to identify the song. She looked around the shop for a bit before spotting her curly haired friend in the corner table that was secluded off from the others in the shop.

"Greetings Eliza. Was everything alright?" She asks as she takes a seat in the chair across from Eliza.

Eliza looks up as angry as ever, "Hey Alora. You won't believe it. Seabrook officials have agreed to tear down the Seabrook Power Plant." She says quickly letting out a frustrated sigh.

A-Lora nods signaling for Eliza to continue, "It's not right. That power plant is a very important part of Zombie heritage. I- no, we have to find a way to fight this. I need your help Alora, this is really important to me. To all of Zombie kind." She finishes off with quiet sigh looking down at the drink in her hands.

A-Lora takes a deep breath not sure of what to say. The last time she tried to stand up for what was wrong she was kicked off of her home planet. The two sat in silence for a minute as A-Lora thought about Sidara and all that she had done. As she sat and thought, her hands had begun to shake. She didn't know the rules here in Seabrook. She didn't know if the punishment could be worse than the one she received back home.

She had only been in Seabrook for nine months, nine months in a new home, a new school,  nine months without having seen or spoking to her mother, her friends nine months without having any sense of familiarity.  A-Lora now felt absolutely clueless and completely alone and that fact scared her to no end.

"I- I uh-" A-Lora froze up as Eliza looked up at her with pleading eyes. "I want to help. Truly I do... but I am just not quite sure if I should." A-Lora says slowly awaiting Eliza's reaction.

"But why not? I- I don't understand." Eliza says exasperated.

A-Lora sighs not sure  what she should tell Eliza. "Well uh- You see-." She clears her throat as she begins to fidget with her fingers.

"In my previous home. I was more like you Eliza. I was fighting against a cause I knew was bad and I- I had to pay the price for it. I was kicked out and eventually, I... I uh found my way here."  A-Lora finishes going silent.

"Oh. Alora I am so sorry. What about your family and friends? Did- did anything happen to them?"

A-Lora shakes her head slowly as her heart rate increases. "No it was just me and my mom. We didn't have the best relationship." Tears begin to prick at A-lora's eyes as she began to rehash the events she went through. "So she had- she decided not to get involved with me. And as for my friends, they had tried to warn me but I didn't listen and well I am now paying the price." A-Lora lets out a shaky breath quickly wiping the tears from her eyes.

"Alora, I am so sorry that's happened to you," Eliza reached out for A-Lora's hands holding them tight, "I am also sorry for trying to drag you down into this with me. But know that I will always be there for you. You're my person." Eliza says softly.

A-Lora smiles up at Eliza, "I've never had a person before. You are my person too Eliza."

------------

Once A-Lora arrived back home, she headed straight to the kitchen looking for any letters with her name on them. She had written to Addison a few days ago and was expecting to receive a letter back from her today.

She noticed a letter from Amelia on the fridge stating that she would be out for the day. Behind her letter was the letter from Addison. Excited, A-Lora takes a seat at the island reading the letter.

"Alora hey! I'm glad you've been having fun with Eliza, Zack, and Zed. I miss you sooo much. I can't wait to see you next week before school starts. Hopefully we'll have classes together this year. Things have still been pretty interesting here. Bucky is still somewhat skeptical of the Zombie's but accepting them on the team nonetheless. The Acey's still aren't all that nice but they are somewhat tolerating me now. That's always something. Has Zed mentioned me at all? Sorry to ask it's just that he hasn't written back to any of my letters and I'm really hoping he'll ask me to prawn. Are you going to prawn? I think you and Zack should go together, you guys seem to be spending more time together lately. If you guys start dating you have to tell me first okay?? Anyways, I'll see you soon!!"

A-Lora laughed to herself upon finishing Addison's letter. She didn't fully understand the idea of dating but figured it was similar to the pairing concept she learned of on Sidara. She also wasn't surprised to hear about Zed, as he mentions Addison all the time as well.

She was planning on meeting with Zed and Eliza again that day as Zed had wanted to hang out with the two. She was slightly worried about how their hang out would go as while with Eliza  she had to relive through some bad memories.

Hoping this wouldn't go in that direction, A-Lora leaves a note for Amelia telling her she'd be back later. She heads out to Zombie Town towards the arcade she had went to with Zack last time as that's where she had agreed to meet with Zed and Eliza.

Once she arrives at the arcade, she heads in looking for her friends at the tables. Once spotting them, she happily makes her way over, smiling down at the two.

"Happy greetings my dear friends." Zed and Eliza smile up at A-Lora. Excited to see her. A-Lora takes a seat across from Eliza the two smiling at each other.

"A-Lora I'm so glad you're here. We were just talking about Prawn and all the other cool events we'll get to do this year." Zed says excitedly.

"Oh I am just as excited too, especially considering that- I was technically homeschooled until this last school year. This will be my first year to ever partake in such events as well."

The trio all laughed together as they discussed all the possibilities and adventures that awaited them for the up and coming school year.
