"I'm going to meet my dad, I'm going to meet my dad!" crooned Lizzie as she pranced around.

Catherine looked at her daughter and couldn't help but smile. The whole thing had her a little uneasy. But the happy look on Lizzie's face when she heard that her father had "come home" made up for it quite a bit. They had decided to meet in the park near Catherine and Lizzie's house, as they thought it would be best for Lizzie to be in familiar surroundings.

"And what does Dad look like?" asked Lizzie curiously.

"Well... he's tall, has dark hair, a bit of a beard and green eyes, just like yours." replied Catherine.

"And is he handsome?" asked Lizzie as she pranced around.

Catherine was silent for a few seconds "Yes, I would say so. And you look a lot like him."

Lizzie smiled and went back to humming. Five minutes later, they arrived at the park. As they walked deeper, there came a moment when they saw Kevin turned around. Catherine heard Lizzie let out a small gasp. Kevin turned as he heard footsteps approaching. They were only several feet apart.

"Mommy." whispered Lizzie, causing her mother to look at her "Can I go?"

Catherine was surprised by her daughter's confidence "Sure, honey."

The little girl let go of her mother's hand, who was following her a few steps behind, and started walking toward the man. Kevin was surprised to see her so determined, and walked toward her as well. Once they were facing each other, Kevin crouched down to be at the girl's level.

After several seconds of silence, Lizzie spoke "You're my dad?"

Kevin had become enraptured looking at the little girl. It was true; she looked a lot like him "Yes, Lizzie. I'm your dad."

"Oh, that's cool..." murmured Lizzie.

Kevin looked even more closely at the little girl. She was his flesh and blood. She was his daughter. He had a daughter. He remembered what his father used to tell him when he was younger: how it felt the first time you held your baby in your arms, their first word, when they learned to walk..."

"Are you going to cry?" asked the little girl watching her father's eyes fill with tears.

Kevin rubbed his eyes "Not at all. I was just thinkin..." he was interrupted when he noticed those little arms around his neck, hugging him. This time Kevin couldn't hold back his tears, and cried with emotion as he hugged his daughter. Not far away, Catherine watched the touching scene trying not to break down in a sea of tears.
