Several weeks passed, and Christmas was approaching; a time of parties, snow, presents... and above all, family.
It was 11:00 a.m. Kevin, Lizzie and Sophie were waiting outside the arrivals gate of the airport. Kevin was holding Lizzie in his arms, while she was watching everything going on at the airport over her father's shoulder.
"Dad." called Lizzie, causing her father to turn his face to look at her "What are we doing here?"
"We're waiting for someone. Someone who really wants to meet you."
"And who is it?" asked Lizzie again, playing with a lock of her father's hair.
"It's a surprise, honey. Be patient."
"Kevin, she's over there." said Sophie pointing with her head to a not-too-tall, curly-haired, light-eyed woman.
Kevin smiled at the sight of the woman and, leaving Lizzie on the floor, walked over to the woman, giving her a tight hug. Sophie and Lizzie walked over as well.
"Kevin, honey, it's so good to see you... You look as handsome as ever." said the woman touching Kevin's face. Suddenly, she looked down a little, seeing Lizzie, who was standing next to her father "Oh, my goodness. You must be Lizzie?"
The woman bent down to be more leveled with the girl. Lizzie nodded in response to the question.
"Tell me, do you know who I am?" Lizzie shook her head "I'm your grandma Annie, I'm your dad's mom."
"Really?" asked Lizzie in surprise.
"Yes, very seriously. Let's see, let me get a good look at you.." Lizzie moved a little closer to the woman. "You look like a doll! You're really pretty. Come here!" Ann opened her arms and Lizzie, almost instinctively, hugged her grandmother.
As they hugged, Ann looked straight ahead, noticing Sophie "Oh, hello dear. How's everything going?"
Sophie smiled "Just fine. How are you?"
"Great. Much better now." she looked up to look at her son "She's just like you." Kevin just smiled, stroking his daughter's head.
