Chapter 31

Sunlight began to bathe the room. Catherine couldn't help but notice how this light turned Kevin's bare skin golden. She was lying on his chest, while he lightly brushed his fingertips over her arm. The truth was that they hadn't slept much that night, but when they had slept, they had slept like this: cuddling. Finally, Catherine mustered up enough courage to talk about what had happened the previous evening before he arrived. Not only did she tell him that, but she also told him about what happened a few years earlier. Kevin's brow furrowed and his eyes flashed with anger.

"Fucking bastard... He really deserves that someone kicks his ass off."

"Yeah, but you can't do that. You'd be asking for trouble, and I don't want that..." Catherine pressed herself tighter against him.

"Yeah, I know..." Kevin sighed as he wrapped his arm around her waist and gave Catherine a light kiss "And that girl...Marie. Do you know if she's okay?"

"I hope so. If Reid came here it's because she stood up to him." Kevin nodded slowly. Catherine caressed his face before tenderly kissing his lips.

A while later, they pulled away from each other and got out of bed. As Catherine picked up her pants and panties from the floor, she watched Kevin put on his shirt. Catherine put her clothes on the bed and walked over to him, resting her hands on his sides.

"Do you really have to go?" Catherine whispered.

"Unfortunately, yes. But I'll be back, I assure you that." Kevin whispered against her lips before claiming them once more. He slipped his hand through her hair to rest his hand on the back of her neck. She gently rubbed his shoulders before wrapping her arms around him, drawing him even closer.

They were so into the kiss that they didn't hear the bedroom door slowly open. They only broke the kiss when they heard a small exclamation sound. They turned and saw Lizzie standing there, jaw- dropped.

"You were kissing????" Catherine and Kevin felt their cheeks burn "You were kissing!!!!"

Kevin and Catherine looked at each other not quite knowing what to do or say. "Well we...well the truth is..." Catherine stammered.

"Yes, honey. Mom and I...we were kissing." Kevin said with a coy smile.

Lizzie laughed and hugged her parents' legs "I knew it, I knew you two love each other!!!! You guys are getting married???? I'm going to have a sibling????"

Kevin laughed and Catherine blushed "We'll talk later, but now I have to go. See you later." he rubbed Catherine's back affectionately and kissed the corner of her mouth. Then he bent down and kissed Lizzie's head "Bye, little one."
