Fulfilling Tasks in Home Village

During my visit to my home village, I fulfilled the order placed by the village's Lord, who is the proprietor of the very fields my family once toiled upon. He has become a regular customer, though his propensity to haggle for discounts is well-known. Nonetheless, I appreciate his consistent patronage. While I haven't had the chance to reunite with my first mentor in the merchant trade, the Lord informed me that he still frequents the village, albeit at different times than me.

As for the Lord's wife, son, and daughter, whom I once envied, their presence no longer evokes fear within me. Perhaps it is because my journey has acquainted me with individuals of higher status, thereby eroding my previous lack of confidence.

I managed to gain favor with the Lord's family, perhaps because I hailed from the very village under his rule, and I successfully fulfilled a majority of their requests.

It is always advantageous to offer goods that appeal to the tastes of the Lord's wife, who shares a similar age with Madam, and her daughter who has reached a suitable age for betrothal. Items such as jewelry, exotic ornaments, and perfumes find favor with them, resulting in substantial purchases that leave the Lord visibly uneasy at the thought of the silver he must part with. On the other hand, the Lord's son exhibits a scholarly inclination, as he often requests treatises and legal books. It appears that he aspires to a career in the realm of government service, hoping to become an esteemed official of the kingdom.

After concluding my business with the lord, I warmly greeted the villagers who were once my neighbors, offering them food and gifts to foster goodwill and encourage their support for my merchandise. As former acquaintances, they naturally expected favorable discounts from me. While I didn't mind extending some concessions, especially for bulk purchases, I had to navigate these interactions carefully. It was important to maintain a positive reputation among them, considering my mother and brothers still resided in the village. However, I also couldn't allow them to dictate prices that would lead to losses on my part. Negotiating with people of diverse backgrounds had become a skill honed over the course of my five-year journey, imparted to me by my first mentor.
