And so it goes, half a year has swiftly passed, and now I find myself returning to the bustling streets of Goldkorb once more, my carriage laden with a plethora of goods and trinkets meant for the Master's family. As I passed through the city gate, I exchanged a familiar nod with the vigilant guard, who uttered a few words that instantly seized my attention. News had spread that the Master had fallen ill. Filled with concern, I hastened my steps after securing my carriage at the merchant guild, completely forgetting to submit my report in the whirlwind of worry.
The sun was beginning its descent, casting a warm glow across the land, as I pushed open the massive tavern door. Inside, a hushed crowd of anxious patrons had gathered around Madam, their voices filled with genuine concern for the Master's well-being. Sharing in their worry, I joined the line of inquiries, eager to know the latest updates.
"Madam, have you sent for the physician?"
"Yes, I have. The physician has recommended that he takes plenty of rest, considering his advanced age."
"Do you need any assistance in managing the tavern?"
"No need to fret. At the moment, I can handle things with the help of our workers. Your concern is truly appreciated."
I don't think there's too much cause for worry. However, I decided to offer something.
"Madam, please have the Master drink this herbal tea before he goes to sleep every night," I said, handing her a small bag containing the herbs.
"Oh, it's you, Takahiko. Thank you, but what is this?" she asked, curious.
"It's a herbal tea imported from the elven lands. It possesses soothing properties and can aid in alleviating pain and promoting a sense of tranquility. I have personally tried it, and the results have been quite promising," I explained.
"Oh, you didn't have to do this, but I graciously accept it," she replied gratefully.
"I assume Sofia is wit the Master?" I inquired.
"Yes, I will inform her of your arrival," she replied, heading towards the back.
"Please don't worry about it. Let her accompany Master, as I'm certain he would appreciate having Sofia by his side during times like these," I assured her.
"Thank you for understanding," she expressed her gratitude.
"If I manage to complete my duties, I shall make my way back tomorrow eve. Nonetheless, I ask you, Madam, to kindly accept this gift intended for Sofia's birthday on my behalf and present it to her," I implored, extending a wrapped parcel to Madam.
"Oh, Takahiko, you have already been so generous. Please don't burden yourself further," she protested.
"It's never a burden, Madam. I regard Sofia as my own sister, so it is only fitting. Please accept it," I insisted.
"Very well, if you insist. I am certain Sofia will be overjoyed," she finally relented.
