After that, we chatted, and slowly, other patrons we knew gathered as mealtime approached. Master called them over, seemingly wanting to convey his appreciation to each of them. I recognized most of the guests' faces, as Master had introduced them to me before. It was evident that Master was truly enjoying their company.

The hours drifted by, and an air of warmth and joy filled the tavern. Madam was bustling about, diligently overseeing the busy helpers as they prepared and served the ordered food and drinks. Sofia managed to steal a few moments to greet me, but her duties in the kitchen quickly called her away.

Laughter echoed through the room as Master regaled us with his stories, bringing smiles to the faces of those around him. As the night deepened, the tavern came alive with music, and some of the patrons even took to the dance floor, infusing the atmosphere with a spirit of celebration.

As the night pressed on, I couldn't help but notice that Master's vitality was waning. Concerned for his well-being, I suggested that he take some rest. He responded with a warm smile, acknowledging the need to conserve his strength.

"I am deeply grateful for this night, Takahiko." Master spoke, his voice carrying a bittersweet tone, but I can feel he sounds satisfied.

"The honor is mine, Master. Spending this time with you means more to me than words can express," I replied, holding back the swell of emotions within me.

As the closing hour approached, Madam guided Master to his resting place, while the diligent workers began tidying up the tavern. In the midst of the bustling activity, Sofia approached me with concern in her eyes.

"Are you alright, Takahiko?" she asked, her voice filled with genuine care.

"I'm alright, Sofia," I reassured her, masking the weight of emotions that weighed upon me.

"It seemed like Father had more energy today. I'm glad to see him like that," she remarked, her face beaming with happiness.

In truth, it wasn't a newfound energy but rather a final surge, a determination to make lasting memories in his remaining time. But I couldn't bring myself to reveal this to Sofia.

"Sofia," I began, choosing my words carefully, "try to stay by your father's side tonight."

Her brows furrowed in confusion as she sensed the gravity of my tone. "Of course, but why are you asking me to do that?"

I contemplated for a moment, searching for an answer that would provide solace without revealing the painful truth.

"I believe there are things your father wishes to share with you, Sofia. He will find comfort in your presence," I replied softly, hoping my words would bring her some measure of understanding.

"Alright. I will do as you say. Thank you, Takahiko," she responded, gratitude shining in her eyes. With that, she bid me farewell and hurried off to her father's room.
