Discussion Between Brothers

I stayed in the village for six days, and on the eve of my departure, I gathered my brothers together in the evening. We purchased ales from a humble eatery run by our neighbor, with the intention of discussing a pressing matter: our mother's living arrangements while we embarked on our individual paths, as we couldn't bear the thought of leaving her alone.

"Since both Brother Takahiko and Kunihiko will continue as traveling merchants, wouldn't it be best if Mother accompanies me to the capital?" Wakahiko suggested, his idea holding merit.

"But if you're planning to join the knighthood, won't you be residing in the barracks for three years?" Kunihiko countered, raising a valid point.

"Ah, you're right. I hadn't considered that. Hmmm..." Wakahiko contemplated the predicament.

"The issue remains that none of us will be able to stay and care for Mother, correct? What if we hire someone to look after her while you're in the capital? We can share the cost of a servant from our funds," Kunihiko proposed, offering a practical solution.

I pondered over their suggestions, realizing it was indeed a good idea.

"That's a viable solution. I don't mind. How about you, Brother Takahiko?" Wakahiko agreed.

"Actually, I may have an even better idea. Do you remember the tale of the recently deceased Tavern Master in the city of Goldkorb?" I spoke up, intrigued by a thought that had crossed my mind.

"Yes." Wakahiko confirmed.

"The one with the young daughter that you're close to, right?" Why do you only remember that part, Kunihiko?

"I may need to seek their permission first, but here is my proposal. What if we offer Mother a position at the tavern? If they agree, she can be well taken care of without the need for a servant. Our Mother possesses ample experience in the culinary arts, and it will keep her engaged and fulfilled," I suggested.

"But what if they are not currently seeking additional workers?"

"If that's the case, we will proceed with Kunihiko's plan and assist Mother in finding suitable employment."

"Agreed, that works for me."

"Then it's settled?"

"Excellent. Let's discuss this with Mother once I return from Goldkorb."

As we raised our tankards and savored the ale, our conversation delved into various topics before finally heading home.
