Izuku and Gang finished their meals and moved the trays to the side. Gang Orca began to explain what a hero's duty is. After patrolling the streets, they would go back to the agency and fill out any paperwork for incidents that occurred during the patrol. Izuku soaked it all in and nodded along.
"That makes sense. What then?" Izuku asked.
"Then you usually get off of work and go home. But sometimes it's needed for the hero to stay at the agency for special occasions or go somewhere else. For example, you might get called to show up at a school to talk to children."
"Talk to them? For what?" Izuku tilted his head.
"Right, you didn't go to school. To give out lectures about doing the right things. Like avoiding drugs and doing good in school for a good job later in life."
"Oh, I get it. It's like advice from someone special." Izuku had a daydream of someone coming to the woods to tell him not to take fox cubs for himself because the cubs get sad and the parents get very angry.
"You alright there, Izuku?" Gang asked softly.
Izuku shook himself awake. "Yep! Just thinking of fox cubs." Izuku beamed.
Gang chuffed and shook his head. "That sounds adorable." And began to stand.
"They are! But they get sad when I take them from their parents." Izuku said sadly towards the end.
"Right then! Let's continue your training with your presence. I want you to be able to control it without having to say anything. It would be bad to scare everyone that we are trying to make feel safe."
Izuku nodded. "Alright!" He said excitedly.
For the next three hours, Izuku practiced his presence on Gang Orca. He quickly began to learn how to keep it reined in. Gang Orca had a few of his sidekicks with animal quirks come in and test it on them. Gang Orca gestured for them to look at Izuku.
"What do you sense?" Gang Orca asked.
The four with different animal quirks turned to a smiling Izuku. "I sense that he is adorable." The woman with gills cooed and pinches his cheeks.
Izuku smiled more bashfully. "I already have a mate."
A man with blueish skin and scaled skin barked out a laugh. "Don't worry kid, she's not a homewrecker. She's my mate." He turned to his boss and shrugged as if to say he had nothing.
The other two also shook their heads. "I sense nothing, like any other non-animal quirk person." One of them said and the other nodded.
Gang Orca clapped his hands once and smiled. "Wonderful! Great job, Izuku."
The feral boy beamed at the praise. "Can we go out and patrol, now?"
Gang Orca looked outside and saw it was late into the night. "Tomorrow morning." He said.
Izuku pouted. "But I can see in the dark and don't need sleep every night."
Gang Orca chuckled and ruffled his messy hair. "But I do and I can't see in the dark, in the morning we'll go out."
Everyone went their separate ways and Izuku went to his room after a hot shower. While he could manage without cleaning for days, he liked to stay clean. Izuku walked into his room and stared at where he should sleep. He went to the bed to try it out and it was nice to sit on but he was used to the firm furs of his den. He remembered that the hero said there was something in the closet and he went to check. He unfolded the mat and Izuku tested it. He grudgingly accepted it and lay down to sleep.
