By the end of the first day, everyone was dead tired, including Izuku. It was an experience he hadn't had very many times. When he was tired he took a nap, stopped and rested, or went to eat to replenish his energy. But training his quirk so vigorously was exhausting to him.
When they were told that they would be cooking up their food, Izuku nodded with acceptance and went over to a tree.
"Zuku? What are you doing?" His mate asked him as he walked away from the cooking station set up. The rest of the class looked over to see what their feral pack leader was up to.
"Firewood." He said tiredly and slowly shifted his arm into a large ax head.
Just as he was going to begin to chop the tree down, Kacchan yelled out. "Izuku! There is already firewood!" He pointed at the stack of wood to the side of the cooking station.
He stopped mid-swing and looked over. He narrowed his eyes and pursed his lips. "Is it good firewood?"
"Just get over here," Toshi said turning back around to prepare on cooking the ingredients.
The class got together to dull out the duties. Izuku watched everyone turn and begin their tasks, he never cooked anything other than raw meat but he did know how to start a fire. So he did that, he created some sinew and grabbed two sticks to begin on the embers. With the practiced motion, the smoking tinder was added to the small sticks to start the fire. He turned to start on the next one but saw that they were already blazing. Todoroki shifted from foot to foot under Izuku's glare.
"Cheater." Izuku mumbled.
"Come on, Zu. Help me with this?" Mina prodded him.
He grumbled about taking shortcuts and cheaters but did as his mate asked. He wasn't sure what he was doing but he followed her instructions and chopped the vegetables to her specifications and then the meat. He did pop one or two into his mouth when no one was watching but he enjoyed the calm air with his pack. When she added the spices, his nose wrinkled but he didn't say anything. He did notice she didn't put in as much as the others did and he was grateful for that. Kacchan poured the whole bottle of spices into his pot and was about to grab another when he was stopped by Kirishima who was going to eat from the same pot.
"Don't be such a pussy shit!" Kacchan argued.
"Kacchan, don't say bad words!" Izuku admonished and then paused. "What does pussy mean?" He turned to his mate in confusion.
Her cheeks darkened with a blush and she barked out a laugh. Izuku turned in confusion to his other pack mates and they were similarly in the same situation from his question. Kacchan was one of the few not laughing but looking out into the distance as he was regretting his life up to that point. Iida was trying to reign them in and stop their 'uncouth' behavior.
"Is it bad? Like the other bad words?!" Izuku began to feel mortified at saying a bad word.
Mina began to calm down and leaned on his shoulder. "Kinda, it has the same meaning as some other words but more...crude. It could mean scared or something else." She blushed slightly again at the end of her explanation.
"Bad word, got it." Izuku nodded and then turned back to Kacchan. "Imma tell Aunti Suki you're saying bad words again."
"Hah? She says worst shit than me!" He defended himself.
Izuku looked horrified. "Aunti Suki? No, she doesn't!"
Before they could come to another bout of roughhousing, Kirishima stepped in. "Let's finish the food first."
The food was filling and tasty to Izuku's senses. He did catch Mina adding salt to her bowl but she didn't raise any complaints about it. Again, Izuku was content with the calm atmosphere with his pack around him and eating. There was a quiet noise of chatter and the woods making their noise but to Izuku, it was peace.
