The pack of 1A was searching the building of the small town section to see if there was anything of interest. They were told ahead of time that there wouldn't be any people there, the only living things in the simulation were them and the creatures scattered about the world. As they were told, the creatures may be nonhostile but they would have to take a risk in trying and petting something unknown to them.
The buildings were bare but had stuff in them from furniture to clothes and food. The stores had a variety of things ranging from more food to tools and camping supplies.
"This is pretty awesome," Sero said as he munched on a treat he picked off the shelf.
Jirou was looking behind the counter and came up with her arms outstretched holding something. "Holy Hell! I found a gun! The store clerk was packing!"
Izuku being nearest picked up the shotgun from Jirou's hands and felt a faint connection to it and distant music playing in the back of his head. "Is it loaded?" Mina asked over his shoulder looking at the weapon.
He snapped out of his trance and looked at the firearm. While he knew in big terms how guns work, he knew next to nothing about how to operate one without Snipe's instruction. "How do check?" He asked like the trance never happened.
"Oh oh! I know!" Kaminari pointed at a lever on the firearm. "Like in the movies! Pull that back and it swings open."
The shotgun did have shells loaded in it and they worked when Mina took the gun to shoot it outside. It turns out, she was a good shot since she blasted a weather vane off of a roof. After their celebrations and high-fives, Iida came out running at the sound of a gunshot and proceeded to admonish the four for such reckless behavior.
Iida stopped his beratement when they heard a scream of surprise and cursing coming from between two buildings nearby. The five sprinted off to find what made the sound and found Sato throwing a small green humanoid creature off of his face. It was bald with a long nose and sharp teeth. The creature landed with a thump and rolled over until it was back on its feet and charging at Sato with a feral gleam in its eye. It was all naked except for a loincloth covering itself.
"That's a goblin!" Kaminari pointed at the thing.
Izuku intercepted the charging goblin and grabbed it by the back of its neck. He predicted it would try and claw at his hand and he grew carapace armor around his hand and wrist. He picked it up and looked at it in curiosity. "So it's a monster, like that guy said?"
Jirou gave a so-so motion with her hand. "Usually, sometimes in fantasy stories, they are just like anyone else. But sometimes they are like a plague." She kept her eyes roaming the alleyway just in case there were more.
"Please calm yourself, we mean you no harm!" Iida tried to be diplomatic but the goblin kept on thrashing like a wild animal and clawing at Izuku's hand to no effect.
The ruckus drew the rest of 1A to them. Yaoyorozu created a bandage for Sato's arm where he was clawed by the feral creature. "What should we do with it?" Sero asked the question on everyone's mind.
"I could kill it? Nosa said there are only monsters and wild creatures, except the cat." Izuku said casually as he held the feral creature aloft. Most everyone got uneasy at that.
Izuku saw an issue immediately and frowned a bit. He addressed it before anyone got killed. "This isn't the real world, while you guys can get hurt and 'die' here, it's not real. Back home you don't have to worry about life-and-death battles like this." He motioned to the goblin still thrashing. "But people instead, people are predictable. Animals aren't, not most of the time. I only kill to eat or defend myself and I do it quickly. You guys aren't used to it but you might have to if we could find something like this here. I don't wanna see you guys hurt." He finished by looking at everyone in the eye.
