The day after the attack on the summer training camp came quickly enough. Izuku slept in as much as he could but after years of getting up at the same time as the sun rose, it only made him turn in his furs until he got out. As he got out of his den, he checked his phone to see if anyone in his pack had contacted him for any reason. No one did and he wasn't sure if that put him at ease. He couldn't remember what day of the week it was but it didn't matter much since they were still on summer break.
The Hunter shifted and went for a hunt, a large one. He took down two deer to begin the process of gaining enough mass to make his arm again. He could do it now but it wouldn't be the same as the rest of his body. It would be a regular arm with calcium bones and a standard nervous system. It would be less than he was used to. He took the blood of the deer and took all the minerals he would need to make his build the steel skeletal structure. He would need lots of iron from the blood and carbon from charcoal. He groaned at having to eat charcoal again.
After completely devouring the two deer, he moved on to start a collection of charcoal. He knows that there are ways of getting the iron from Recovery Girl's medicine cabinet but he doesn't want to ask for her help. He was stubborn like that. So instead he found a clear patch of earth and began to dig a hole to burn enough wood for the charcoal.
After a few hours and a big fire later, Izuku got a call on his phone. He pulled it out of his side and checked to see who was calling him. It was Gang, he answered with a smile.
"Gang!" Izuku said with a smile.
"Izuku! Are you alright? I heard about what happened at the camp." Gang Orca's voice boomed out of the speaker on Izuku's phone.
Izuku's smile fell just a bit. "I'm alive." He glanced at his right arm.
"Answer the question," Gang said sternly.
Izuku grimaced and told his mentor about what happened. "-and then my arm was burned off." He heard a gasp from the other end and quickly added. "I can grow it back! I'm working on it now, it's just gonna take some time."
"Your arm," Gang said morosely. "You are sure you are alright?"
Izuku paused to think. "I was just tired and worried for my pack. They have told me this sort of stuff isn't common but it's the third time." He scratched at a stick to make kindling for future fires.
Gang Orca heard the confusion in his voice. "Hero schools getting attacked is not normal. Before this school year, I could count on one hand how many times villains attacked the students in Hero schools. Yes, there is the rare crazed villain but it's very rare for it to occur." He paused so Izuku could soak in the information. "For some reason, the League of Villains have their sights set on your class but we are working on that as we speak. As for your pack, how are they?"
Izuku felt more at ease at hearing the heroes were working on taking out the League of Villains with Shumnai at their head. "Three were knocked unconscious with some gas but they were alright. They are still at the hospital, I think. The rest were alright with small injuries. I had the worst of it all to an extent."
Gang took that in silence and nodded along. He was already aware of the injuries they had sustained to an extent but hearing from first-hand experience was always better. "I am happy to hear none of your pack sustained serious injury. Have you told Asato about what had happened?"
Izuku physically flinched at the reminder. "She is going to worry." He feebly tried to argue.
"She is going to worry either way but it would be best if she heard it from you instead of the news." Gang lectured.
Izuku groaned slightly but nodded. "Okay, I'll tell her right after we're done."
Gang smiled on the other end. "Good, then get to it." And then hung up.
