"What in Merlin's beard are you wearing!?" Lucy jumped, spinning around at the sudden intrusion. She squeezed the small pendant in her hand, looking anywhere but at the person before.
"Normal clothes for the 21st century." Lucy looked down at her ensemble, the shorts and shirt she wore. It was something she even found odd wearing after being in this era for so long.
"So you're going back? Just like that? Like we meant nothing to you?" Their voice broke as Lucy heard them approaching.
"Sebastian, you know it isn't like that." Another voice spoke, coming closer as well.
"Ominis, don't even try. What is it then? How can you leave us like this?" Sebastian nearly begged as he stopped in front of her.
"I can't just disappear, Sebastian. I need to go back and see my friends and family. It isn't fair to them if I just leave without any answers." Lucy shook her head.
"Are you coming back then?" Ominis sounded hopeful as he spoke. "We could all live together. I really don't want to go back to my home."
"I don't know." Lucy chewed at her lip. "I may, but..." Lucy trailed off, the words she wanted to say evaded her.
"So we're just supposed to wait and hope for the best?" Lucy finally looked Sebastian in the eyes, seeing how broken his face looked. Though, she couldn't blame him. His guardian was gone and now his sister. Even his friendship with Ominis isn't what it once was.
"I can't not go back. I have a family and friends. I'd be heartbroken if I didn't get to say goodbye, at the very least." Lucy bit her lip gently, "If you could go back, I know you would too, Seb."
Sebastian's eyes faltered, "I know, but I just... I don't want to lose you too." Sebastian's voice cracked as he spoke.
Lucy felt her own tears spring to her eyes, "Sebastian... I know. I don't want to lose you either. Both of you."
"What about your beasts?" Sebastian spoke again, "How will they survive without you?"
"I showed Poppy my room. She is more than happy to help me out." Lucy chewed her lip, "And Reko. Well, the little guy hasn't left my side since, well... since right after the battle. So, I think he'll be coming with me." Lucy placed a hand over her chest. While everyone saw nothing, she could feel the creature wrapped around her, resting.
"I knew I sensed something here." Ominis shook his head.
Lucy giggled softly and looked at the golden pendent in her hand, "Just in case," Lucy looked back and forth between the two boys, "I do want to say thank you to you both. It's been a crazy year, but you two were always there when I needed you. You defended me and helped me more than you could ever know."
"Please don't say goodbye. Especially when you say you may be coming back." Sebastian chewed on his lip.
"Sebastian, let her say this. We'd rather hear you out and see you again than the opposite." Ominis placed a hand on Sebastian's shoulder as he stepped forward.
"You guys have become amazing friends. I don't have many people that look out for me back home, so it was a nice change. Maybe I'll find a book in the future about our adventures." Lucy giggled at the thought, though she felt like there was a large hole where it once was.
"We could have more." Sebastian nearly pleaded as he spoke.
"Sebastian." Ominis had a stern voice when talking to him, "Lucy you know we care for you. And you will always have people here, waiting for you. Well, if you do decide to come back." Ominis let a sad smile form on his face as he spoke. Though he wasn't always the most sentimental, he couldn't stop his own break in his voice.
"Thank you, Ominis." Lucy reached out, gently squeezing his hand before hugging him tightly. She let go, turning towards Sebastian, tears threatening to flow down his face just like hers.
"I, on the other hand, will wait for you to tell you everything I want to." Sebastian pulled her in, wrapping his arms around her tightly.
"Sebastian..." Lucy whispered, hugging him tightly, desperately wishing she could keep holding on.
"You know how I feel about you." Sebastian whispers, kissing her head gently, "Please be safe."
Lucy felt her own tears fall down her face as she left his once warm grasps. She looked at the little knob on the side of the necklace, putting it around her neck, "I suppose it's just a quick twist and I'll go back."
Lucy looked back and forth between the two boys before her. She couldn't bear to say goodbye as she began to twist the small knob, feeling exactly as she did the first time. It took a moment before things started to move quickly before her.
