Lucy sat next to the kindling fire in her room of requirements. The fire that once held the dragon egg her and Poppy found now sat empty. The two had done their time, giving it back to its mother. Now, her and Reko sat next to the fire, warming up.
Lucy did her best to keep Reko in the room of requirements. He would sometimes visit the vivariums, but would never stay. Sometimes, he'd even follow her to the common room, giving the girls quite a fright.
A sigh escaped her lips as the flickering flame made shadows dance over her now scarred face. It had been a few weeks since she met with Lodgok and her fight with Sebastian. During her time, fighting goblins in the mine, one managed to nick her on her face. A clean cut stretched from the right side of her head down past her eye and to the center of her cheek.
Memories flash in her mind, remembering the momentary blindness she experienced, blood covering her vision. She was lucky she didn't lose her eye or her sight.
"I will find out what Ranrok knows, trust me" Lodgok reassured, his eyes never leaving hers.
"Thank you, Lodgok. I trust you." Lucy nodded. Her hands shook as she combed them through her hair, nervously looking everywhere in her field of vision.
"I have a feeling you aren't shaking because of the blistering cold." Lodgok put a reassuring hand on her the one that laid at her side.
Lucy let a sad smile form on her face, "I just don't want to let anyone down."
"It can be terrifying. They entrusted someone so young to defend, but that is where help is needed. I'm trying to do what I can to play my part and help. I don't think I could live with myself if you died and I could've prevented that. I may not have powers, but I shall be of assistance when needed." Lodgok sent a grin her way, his jagged teeth reminded her of a shark.
Lucy let a smile form on her face, "I shall look forward to your next letter then."
"Of course. Try and stay safe, especially with everything going on. I am most dreadfully sorry you got hurt, especially when I sent you in there. I will repay you for your service" Lodgok nodded one last time before he disappeared in the distance.
Lucy shook her head, allowing the memory to leave her thoughts for a moment as she rose to her feet.
"Stay here. It is dreadfully cold outside. I wouldn't want you to freeze." Lucy pulled out some beast pellets, setting them in front of Reko before heading towards the Floo Flame. Though she wouldn't be able to understand, even if he did respond, he seemed to be content with staying and enjoying the warmth the fire brought.
Within a flash, she was along the coastline, the snow had finally melted, though it was still slightly cold out. She walked away from the rushing shores, making her way to a lone tree near the bottom of one of the cliffs. Lacewing flies glowed nearby, making it a beautiful sight in the dead of night. A sigh escaped her lips, seeing Sebastian leaning against the tree.
She was still mad at him, but was here simply to find out more about the triptych and Isadora.
"I received your owl." Lucy walked up to the Slytherin boy she had a weird relationship with.
"I'm glad you came." Sebastian looked at her almost nervously.
"Well, as much as it sucks, I am rather invested and would like to find out the secrets Isadora held." Lucy shrugged.
"I know. I did hear some of Ranrok's loyalist say they were going to another cavern, just like the one we found before." Sebastian didn't move his eyes from Lucy, "I still don't understand how they're a step ahead of us. They can't know about the triptych." Sebastian looked away towards the ground.
