Thirty two// There's nothing left

Casey's pov

I was up all last night trying to think about what I was going to tell Millie, as today I'm going to speak to her.

I haven't told her I'm going or else she won't open the door.

I pulled up outside the hotel and parked the car. I strolled through the hotel lobby. I took the lift to Millie floor and found the room she was staying in.

I took a deep breath and knocked. A few seconds later she opened the door looking quite unimpressed.

"We need to talk" I say and she shakes her head.
"You haven't even heard what went on" I state
"Okay tell me" she says moving to the side to let me in.

I fully explain what had happened in as much detail I could remember, I didn't want to keep anything else from her.

"And that's exactly what happened" Millie asked once I had finished explain.
"Yeah I promise" I say and she shook her head at me.

"What" I say and she starts walking back and forth across the room.
"I invited Betsy over yesterday to hear what went on" Millie starts and I elegantly see that Betsy had lied to Millie, made it should worst than what really happened.

"Her story was different" Millie says stopping in front of me.
"What did she say" I ask.
"She said that she fell on you and it was an accident that you kissed" Millie says.
"That's not how it happened, she fell And I caught her. She said 'kiss me' then just did it I pulled away straight away" I tell her.

"And that's all that happened only that kiss" Millie says and I nod.
there was a long period of silence, it was uncomfortable. I could tell if Millie was about to forgive me or throw me out.

"She said he woke up next to you and Jake" Millie says breaking the silence.

"Millie I swear to you that never happened" I say walking over to her. I took her hands in mine and looked into her eyes.

"I would never ever do that" I say to her for a second I think she believed me, she was looking back at me as if she was still in love with me but it quickly ended once she pulled her hands away from mine.

"Millie you have to believe me I can't lose you. Your my everything, please" I beg her.

"Casey I love you but I just can't bring myself to believe you" she says.
"You have to trust me" I say.
"I can't" She says back to me.

I looked past her to the dresser to see the pile of wedding invitation sat there, she never posted them.

I looked back at Millie who was playing with her engagement ring, my heart beating so fast right now.

She slid it off her finger but kept it in her hand tears flooded in my eyes.

"Millie please don't" I beg her, she held the ring out for me to take it.
"I think this is for the best" She says taking my hand.
"I love you Millie I want to marry you" I tell her. She placed the ring in my hand and wrapped my fingers around it, I let the tears flow from my eyes down my cheeks.

"I can't marry a man I don't trust" Millie says sniffling through the years she had. I stood starting back at her unable to speak.

"I think you should leave" Millie mumbles not able to look at me.
"I will fight for this" I say and she shakes her head. She walked towards the door and I followed her.

"There's nothing left Casey, I can't trust you" She tells me opening the door.
"I'll find proof" I say, she didn't reply so I guessed I had to leave.

As much as it pained me to walk away from her, to have her ring in my hand I knew this wasn't over son how I would get her back
