CHAPTER THREE: THE WORLD EXPOSITION

MAGGIE LOOKED IN AWE.

The World Expedition was everything she hoped it would be. She barely stood still as her and the boys gave the man their tickets at the ticket booth. The trio walked past the enlistment booth, Maggie's arm delinking with Bucky's. They walked that way until someone caught the corner of her eye.

There was a little boy, no older than 10. He was being shoved around by a group of older boys.
She removed herself from Bucky, deciding to break it up herself.

"You two go ahead," she told both men. "I'll catch up soon."

Maggie walked over to the group of young boys. She grabbed the eldest of them by the back of her shirt, almost making him trip back.

"Oi, you think it's cool beating up a boy younger than you?" Maggie asked the group. The bullies shook their head no. "Then I recommend you go away before I drag all of you by your ears to each of your parents."

The boys immediately scattered from the promise. They way they did made Maggie scoff, sounding like a laugh. She helped the little boy to his feet. The boy had dark brown hair and a pair of blue eyes. His knees were bruised with cuts deep enough for slight bleeding. His face was a little bruised, but not as major. In Maggie's eyes he had a striking resemblance to someone she once knew. Someone she loved dearly.

"Hi, my name's Maggie," the brunette introduced herself. "What's your name, love?"

"Andrew," the boy answered timidly.

"Okay then, Andrew, this what we're going to do. I'm going to take you to the first aid station, get you all cleaned up, and then find your parents. Is that okay?"

Andrew said nothing, only nodding his head in agreement. Maggie held his hand in hers as they walked to the first aid station. Not a lot of people were around, so the brunette was quickly able to get the boy in an area. She helped him up onto the cot while knelt on the ground to look at his injuries.

"Does this hurt, Andrew?" Maggie asked before applying pressure to his bruised knee.

The boy winced in response, giving Maggie an answer. The brunette then look around to see if there were any people nearby. She then looked back at Andrew and spoke.

"Alright, Andrew, I know a way that will patch you up fast. But in order to do that, I need a pink I promise you will not tell anyone. Okay."

"Pinkie promise, Andrew answered, linking his small pinkie with Maggie's bigger one.

"Okay now stay still."

Maggie placed her hands over both knees. She closed her eyes and fell into deep concentration. Power radiated from her hands, letting her know it was working. A couple seconds later, she pulled her hands away and opened her eyes. The bruises and cuts on Andrew's knees faded away. So did the ones on his face. He looked at the brunette woman with awe.

"That was so cool," he said.

"How did you do that?"

A feminine, British voice asked behind them. Maggie whipped her head to see a woman around her age. She had curly brown hair and wore a suit. Her chocolate brown eyes looked at Maggie in shock, hoping she didn't imagine what she just saw.

"Excuse me?" Maggie asked, getting up.

"What you just did? How-"

"I don't know what you're talking about. I was just checking if this boy was hurt. Isn't that right, Andrew?"
