CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE: THE AFTERMATH
LOKI WAS BROUGHT BACK TO THE SHIELD HELICARRIER AFTER BEING DEFEATED IN NEW YORK.
He walked back to his temporary prison in chains once more, wearing something over his mouth to shut him up. He kept going on and on how he was the rightful ruler of Earth, that he was a god and everyone else was beneath him. Everyone ignored him just throwing him in a cell similar to his last one.
Maggie and the Avengers went out to a shawarma place in the aftermath of New York that Tony really wanted to try. She never had shawarma before and it was pretty good, eating her entire meal while protecting it from being stolen by Thor. It made the table laugh when she slapped Thor's hand away from her food. They knew that Maggie did not share food, especially after a long battle. For the first time in a long time Maggie felt like she belonged, like she was a part of one big family. She hadn't laughed so hard since she was young like she did in that shawarma place.
Tony planned a party on the Helicarrier to celebrate winning the battle inviting the team and everyone on the Helicarrier to join. Maggie wasn't a fan of parties but Steve was able to convince her to go and that everyone deserves to celebrate. Everyone was getting cleaned up and ready for the party before leaving the Helicarrier. Maggie had gotten ready early, giving her enough time to visit Loki's cell for a moment before meeting up with Steve.
Maggie walked into Loki's cell meeting eyes with the god of mischief. A smug smile formed in his lips as he was chained down to the bench by his neck, hands, and ankles.
"Back again, little witch?" Loki asked. "Come to gloat your team's success?"
"No, I did not," Maggie said, her lips on a firm line. "Did you actually think you had a chance of winning after you pissed off me, two assassins, A man in an iron suit, a super soldier, a doctor with scary anger issues, and your demigod brother?"
"I would've succeeded if you joined me when you had the chance."
"It was a tempting offer, but having power and ruling over Earth isn't really on my bucket list. I doubt you'd fill your side of that bargain if I did switch sides. Besides, of all the things you've done, I will never forgive for killing Phil."
"I could have made you one of the most powerful beings in the world and so much more."
Maggie scoffed amused from Loki's words, walking back and forth in front of his cell. Loki watched her as she didn't speak for a couple moments softly chuckling as she stopped.
"Why have you come back if you didn't come to gloat?" Loki asked.
"We have unfinished business, you and I," Maggie answered, making Loki smirk.
"Yes, I suppose we do."
"I have questions... and you're the only one who can answer them."
"You've seemingly taken up an alliance with my brother. So why ask me?"
"You know why."
"You're already having visions, are you?" Loki asked smirking once more. "Tell me, do they plague your mind?"
"You know the answer to that," Maggie answered with a hardened expression. "Why am I having these visions? What do they mean? Why is the Tesseract showing me them?"
"I thought an intelligent woman such as yourself would already know. The Tesseract and my scepter have shown you the future, expanded your mind without being under my control."
"Why me?"
"The Tesseract and the scepter chose you. They give have both seen you as worthy," Loki answered before his breath got shaky. "And now he knows that you are alive."
