CHAPTER NINETEEN: BROTHERS
WITH LOKI CAPTURED, MAGGIE STEPPED FOOT ONTO THE QUINJET BEFORE THEY LEFT THE GROUND.
She was still in battle armor, her gun in it's holster and her white sword in it's sheath. Tony and Steve watched as she made her way towards both men. Steve smiled while Tony analyzed her, trying to remember where he had seen her before.
Loki was in handcuffs, sitting down in silence as he stared at Maggie's back. She knew he was planning something because he surrendered so easily. No one, especially the god of mischief and lies surrendered that quick. And if Loki kept staring at her back, Maggie swore she removed his eyeballs from his sockets.
"Something feels off," Maggie whispered to Steve. "He's up to something."
"I agree," Steve replied, whispering as well.
"So what's up with the glowing green sword?" Tony asked Maggie. "You didn't have it the last time I saw you. You didn't have the green wiggly-woos either."
"The wiggly-woos are new," Maggie answered with a shrug.
"Learn any spells with your new powers."
"One of them being how to turn someone you dislike into a hamster."
Steve chuckled from the girl's sarcasm while Tony put his hands up in peace.
"Now now, Wicked Witch of the West. You don't need to be so hostile," Tony said jokingly. "We're friends, aren't we?"
"If that's what you believe," Maggie said before walking away from both men.
Loki's eyes watched her walked while he casually sat on the bench. Maggie knew his gaze was on her back, burning a hole right through it. His short chuckle is what got her annoyed quickly.
"Got something you want to say to me, Deer Abbey?" Maggie asked, turning to the god in handcuffs. "If you don't, stop staring at my back."
"Little girls like yourself shouldn't play in such dangerous places," Loki said, finally speaking since he got on the quinjet. "It would be bad if you got yourself hurt."
The quinjet was quiet, waiting for Maggie to respond while no one else could. The fact that he hadn't spoken at all but spooks to throw an insult at Maggie's direction. She could hear Steve moving in Maggie and Loki's direction. Maggie gave Steve and Tony a look that she could stand up for herself, making Steve stop walking. She gave Loki her best glare and raised her left eyebrow.
"Well the last time I checked, you're the one who made this situation dangerous," the brunette shot back, sass in her tone. "Look where it's got you now, sitting in timeout like a pouting child. And I'm a lot older than I look."
Tony watched in amusement with Steve standing beside him straighter than the minute before as they moved their eyes on Maggie and Loki carefully. Natasha didn't turn around, but the brunette knew she was listening by Natasha's sudden change in posture.
"Oh, I know you're older than you appear. I know everything about you, Prodigy."
"I'd keep my mouth shut from now on, Grease Lightning," Maggie warned seething from what he called her. She then bent to his eye level. "Or I may kick you all the way back to Asgard, because there's a vacancy on your ass and my foot is looking for a room."
The next moment, Loki handcuffed hands grabbed the collar of her red leather jacket. A small spark of panic shot through Maggie, but knew she was thinking about chopping Loki's hands off in that next second.
