TWELVE

CHAPTER TWELVE: TIME TOGETHER

TWO DAYS LATER

STEVE WAS MORTIFIED.

He didn't expect what he saw in Maggie's room the next morning. He had the second key to her room and came to wake her up for the day. He didn't expect Bucky to sleeping in her bed. Both of them naked.

Steve screamed in horror, immediately turning away. His screaming woke Maggie and Bucky up. First they looked in shock and covered themselves.

"This is why you knock first, Steve!" Maggie said, holding the blanket close

"What the hell are you doing in bed together?!" Steve asked, still looking away. "Ugh, I'm going to rip my eyes out."

"We were sleeping," Bucky answered tiredly.

"Oh, you were doing more than sleeping!"

"Steve, get out!" Maggie shouted, hitting the blonde with a pillow. "Let us get dressed."

"Dear God!" Steve shouted as he left the apartment.

When he left, Maggie and Bucky look at each other. Both of them broke out into laughter and then got out of bed to change.

For a couple hours, Maggie and Bucky went separate ways. She followed Steve back to SSR Headquarters to talk to Howard Stark. He called them in to talk about Steve shield and Maggie's choice of weapon.

"Do you know where Howard Stark is?" Steve asked a blonde woman in uniform.

"He's in with Colonel Phillips," the woman replied. "Of course, you're welcome to wait."

"I'm going to go find Peggy. See you in a bit," Maggie said, walking away from Steve.

Soon enough she found Peggy.

"Hello, Maggie," Peggy called, meeting her fellow countrywoman.

"Hello, Peggy. Is everything alright?" Maggie asked.

"Howard wishes to know if you would like a special weapon, seeing as Steve has his shield," the agent explained as they walked together.

Maggie thought about it for a moment. There was one weapon she was always curious about having.

"We'll, since Steve has a shield, maybe I can have a sword?" Maggie asked. "You know, be the Sword and Shield of America? That sound cheesy, doesn't it?"

"Not at all, it's a good idea. I will let Howard know," Peggy answered.

Bothe women turned the corner to see Steve kissing the blonde woman from before.

"Captain!" Peggy yelled, causing both blondes to separate. "We're ready for you. If you're not otherwise occupied."

Her and Maggie continued to walk ahead after she spoke.

"Agent Carter, wait," Steve called, catching up Peggy and Maggie.

"Looks like finding a partner wasn't that hard after all," Peggy remarked.

"Peggy, that's not what you thought it was."

"I don't think anything, Captain. Not one thing. You always wanted to be a soldier and now you are. Just like all the rest."

"Well, what about you and Stark? How do I know you two haven't been, fonduing?" Steve asked, making Maggie facepalm herself.

"You still don't know a bloody thing about women!" Peggy said, meaning Steve.
