Y/n's pov:

A few hours past, Carter and Kara got to my house. I was in the living room, on my laptop finishing some work for the day.

I see Carter and Kara and looked up to them "Hey bud, how's your day?" I ask looking back down on my laptop.

"It was good." Carter said then placed his things on the table.

"Did you guys eat already? Julius cooked dinner." I asked then closing my laptop and placed it on the coffee table. Julius is our chef for almost 3 years now.

"No" he said. I noticed Kara was just standing there.

"Kara, please sit." I said then stood up and walked up to Carter. "Carter why don't you get ready for dinner. I have to talk with Kara." I said and he nodded in response then went to his room.

I turned to Kara who was sitting on the sofa. "What did Carter tell you about Maya?" I asked as i sat down.

"He said that Maya's your girlfriend." She started.

"Was my girlfriend." I corrected. "Maya cheated on me last year with my best friend. I couldn't tell Carter because Carter loves her. I don't want to hurt him. So i let Maya see Carter and pick him up on weekends so they could still spend time with eachother." I explained. Kara had a sad look on her face.

"I'm sorry" was all she said. I frowned a little.

"Why are you sorry? It's not your fault." I asked and she just gave me a small smile.

"Because i asked." She said and i nodded in response. "But i think you should tell him." I sighed then nodded again.

"I'll tell him later." She gave me a small smile. "Stay for dinner?" I offered.

"I can't. It's game night. You should come over some day. You know, for game night" she said and stood up from her seat.

We said our goodbyes and carried on with our night.

Carter and i were eating some food and had a small conversation. "Carter, do you know why i don't let Maya come over anymore?" I asked and he shook his head no.

"Well.. we broke up." I said and saw how hurt he was from those words.

"Why? I-i thought you loved each other?" He stuttered.

"Do you really want to only the truth?" I asked in a whisper voice but loud enough for him to hear. He hesitated but nodded.

I explained to him what happened. He was hurt because he wouldn't be able to see Maya anymore, but he understood.

I didn't let Maya pick Carter up anymore and i spent more time with him and even with Kara.

Kara and i became really good friends and i was invited to some game nights, but with work i had to pass on some.
