Karishma nervously looked at her reflection on the long mirror. The baby pink lehenga shone in the light and intricate designs were beautiful and she was glad she had chosen this lehenga. She didn't mind accepting that she did look beautiful. She couldn't wait for Haseena to see her and also couldn't wait to see Haseena in her wedding dress. They all had to leave shortly with the Bharaat to where Haseena waited for her. They weren't allowed to talk let alone see each other after the Sangeet function.
"Apshagun hota hai!" Ammi and Pushpa ji had said and Karishma's protest yet again earned her ear getting twisted by Ammi for the second time, the first time was when she hadn't agreed to stay away from Haseena for 12 days before their wedding. She smirked remembering how hard that had flopped when a drunk Haseena had climbed to her room.
Her thoughts were interrupted when Pushpa ji entered the room. She was walking towards Karishma hastily but then stopped in her tracks looking at Karishma. Karishma noticed how her eyes shone and smiled.
"Amma, hum theek lag rahe hai na?" She mumbled.
"Bahoth khoobsurat lag rahi hai aap." Pushpa ji said slowly walking towards her and standing beside her looking at Karishma's reflection.
"Kitni jaldi badi hogayi aap. Ittu si thi jab- jab humare paas aayi thi. Par itna gussa aata tha kiya batayein." She said and chuckled and so did Karishma. "Humare zimmedari banke aayi thi par humari zimmedari kudh le liya tha aapne. Aur aaj aapki shaadi ho rahi hai. Bahoth khushnaseeb hai Maddam sir kyunki ye humse zayada koun jaan sakta hai ki jinse aap pyaar karti hai unko aap kitna khush rakhti hai, kitna kuch kar deti hai bas unke ek choti si hassi ke liye." Pushpa ji said.
"Khushnaseeb toh hum hai amma. Humare gussa nakhre attitude insecurities sab chup chap jhelne waali ek masoom si insaan ko humse pyaar joh hogaya hai." Karishma chuckled thinking about their dynamics. "Aur humare gussa sirf woh handle kar sakti hai amma ap toh jaanti hi hai. Aur itni patience hai unmein, bahoth lucky hai hum, jo humein Haseena mil gayi." Pushpa ji adored how she never let anyone think Haseena deserved her no less than how much she deserved Haseena.
"Nazar na lage meri bacchi ko bas." She put nazar ka teeka behind Karishma's ear and Karishma hugged her tightly.
"Dhanyabad amma hum jaise hai waise hi humko accept karne ke liye." She thanked her. Thanked her for treating her like her daughter, for never letting her once feel like she wasn't her own daughter. Thanked her for never judging her for her preference, in fact she was supportive too. What more could she ask for?
"Arrey humko mat rulaye humare khoobsurati par asar padd jayega aur phir sab humko chodkar aapko dekhne lagenge!" Pushpa ji declared but tears adored her eyes as she continued to admire how gorgeous her daughter looked on her wedding day. And happy. That mattered more.
"Isshhh Pushpaaaa I hate tears." Karishma said, matching Pushpa ji's dramatics as she carefully wiped her mother's tears away.
"Aap na acting mat kijiye warna maddam sir toh aapse shaadi karne se rahi. Kya hai na aapko suit nahi karta Karishma, abhinetri Shri Shri Pushpa Singh aapko sikha degi." Pushpa ji said and they both laughed heartily.
"Amma!" Karishma exclaimed as if she remembered something she'd forgotten, startling her mother in the process.
"Kya hai! Ittu sa toh sharmayiye na! Shaadi horahi hai aapki aur aaj bhi gundon ki tarah awaazein nikhaalti phir rahi hai aap! Humari bichari Maddam sir unka toh bhaag hi phoot gaya hai." Karishma stood by crossing her arms waiting for her mother to finish her dialogue.
"Hogaya?" She enquired as Pushpa ji quitened.
"Haan abhi ke liye." Pushpa ji said with a serious addition to her face.
