18 - Draining Office Work Pt. 18

The weeks pass and Katsuki's plan has gone off without a hitch. Round Face is beyond talkative, which is probably why she has so many extras always following her around. With a couple of carefully placed questions, he is able to learn how she gets to school, when she usually leaves, and about how long it takes for her to walk home. 

She is having some money problems, which he could guess by the way she looks at his bento box when he brings some. Also, by how her house actually looks. Of course, he wasn't invited to it or anything, he just followed her home one night. 

Her parents aren't usually home, both busy with work and opting to stay there instead of making the trip back home over and over. Which means, she is alone at home when she isn't at school or working. He has a second of clarity when watching her through her bedroom window. 

This girl is working hard to support herself and her family. He can't just tear her away from her life because of his own selfish reasons, can he? That clarity is instantly squashed when he sees the hearts drawn on Izuku's name in her workbook the next day in class. 

"You like someone?" 

Uraraka tenses and covers the page with her arm, her entire face red. Her eyes are blown wide, and she awkwardly laughs. 

"W-What? What do you mean?" 

It's clear by her reaction and her tone of voice that she knows exactly what he means. He gives her a deadpanned stare and she flushes, before sighing. 

"Yeah... I do..." 

She points at him. 

"But you can't tell anyone if I tell you okay?!" 

Katsuki fights the urge to rip her face off. 

"We're friends right? I won't tell anyone." 

She hesitates for a moment before uncovering the page, revealing Izuku's name again. 

"I know it's kind of childish to write the name of the person you like with hearts-" 

"It is." 

"Hey!" 

She shoves him gently and Katsuki has to make sure his face doesn't show any of the disgust and hate that curls in his stomach. 

"But I really like him. Do you know Izuku Midoriya?" 

Katsuki shakes his head, and rests his chin on his arms, looking up at her. She beams and rocks back and forth slightly. 

"Well, he's really nice! And so sweet! And when he smiles, it feels like the best thing ever! I feel so happy whenever I'm around him, and he's always trying to help people out even when he works at that stupid job! I want to tell him how I feel, but I've been pushing it off..."

"But not today! Today, I'm going to tell him how I feel! If he rejects me, I'll cry and hide under a rock forever!" 

Katsuki feels like everything else blurs out but her. He wants to snap her neck. He can't let her tell Izuku anything about her sappy disgusting feelings. 

"Good luck then." 

Uraraka smiles at him. 

"Thanks Bakugou! You're a really good friend!"
