"So um..."
Izuku stands by his desk, looking a little more rested than usual. Katsuki notices the way his eyes are shining brighter and how his uniform is pressed. He also notices the light pink blush that reaches Izuku's cheeks.
He tenses up and rubs his hands on his pants discreetly, his mind whirling. Is Izuku nervous to talk to him? About what? Why is he so nervous? Is it a good thing? Oh shit, why are his hands so fucking sweaty?
He forces his nervous thoughts away from him. Katsuki Bakugou does not get nervous! Especially in front of Izuku, who looks so amazing right now. Green eyes meet his own again, captivating him. He just wants to stare at him and never have to look away.
But of course he has to, or else he'll look like a creep and scare him away.
"I was wondering if you wanted to go get coffee sometime? Not just in the breakroom like usual! An actual place, with seats and stuff..."
Katsuki's eyes widen and he feels like his whole body is about to explode.
"When?"
Izuku smiles, his cheeks still flushed in embarrassment.
"Tomorrow, after work? There is this really nice cafe, the coffee is really good and it's quiet. Does that work for you?"
Katsuki feels his face heat up and he looks away, continuing to type on his computer like this whole conversation didn't just melt his brain.
"Yeah, works fine. You better get back to work before that old bastard comes out of his office looking for you."
Izuku seems to brighten up even more and he laughs.
"Right. See you tomorrow!"
With that, he briskly walks away, getting to work on his own duties. Katsuki stares after him, trying to be discreet, despite the excitement and high pumping through his veins. Izuku Midoriya just asked him out, he doesn't know if it's a date yet, but fuck, even just being invited somewhere with him makes him feel lightheaded.
Katsuki continues his work, pausing only when he sees Izuku passing by or to get coffee. The sun is replaced by the moon slowly rising when he's finally outside of the building and walking home.
He didn't see Izuku rushing around the place when he left, which was a little disappointing. He's usually all over the place doing paperwork or errands for as long as the shitty boss stays in the office.
The scarf wrapped around his neck protects him from the freezing breeze, his coat tight against his body. He keeps his hands in his pockets as he walks down the sidewalk towards the train station, the dim streetlights barely cutting through the growing darkness.
A puff of air comes from his mouth as he lets out a breath, his good mood slowly ebbing away. He sees the station clearly, its lights bright and illuminating anything around it perfectly.
