                                                                      Ivy

"Hey, Jason. What's up?" I say into the phone, trying to sound casual.

"Where are you?"

"Uh... I went for a walk," I lie.

"C'mon, don't lie," Jason insists.

"Fine... I was at a bar, drinking. Was feeling a little off today," I make up a story, relieved that I managed to come up with something plausible. Phew, that was close.

"Yes, that's the Ivy I know. You could've asked me to join you. I would've been honoured," Jason states.

"Um... it was totally unplanned, so..." I trail off, trying to keep up with the lies.

"Where are you now?" he asks.

"Just heading back to the campus," I respond. Well, at least I'm not lying about that. Wait...is he somewhere nearby? I quickly take a look around to relieve my paranoid ass.

"Okay, then let's meet in the evening. I'll come by your dorm around 9, and we can leave for the frat together," He suggests.

"Sure, see you. Bye," I say into the phone and hang up immediately. The walk back to the campus is short, and when I reach my room, it's already 5 pm. Thank god my classes were cancelled.

I change into something comfortable and dive into my chocolate ice cream bucket. I start scrolling through Netflix to find something to watch, but I end up binge-watching The Big Bang Theory. I get so engrossed in watching that I lose track of time. When I finally check my phone, it's 7 pm, and I realise I ate the whole ice cream bucket.

I notice my phone vibrating on the night table. I pick it up and Spencer's name pops up on the screen.

"Hey'' I say through the phone.

"Did you reach home safe?"

"Yeah''

"That's good."

"Spencer?" I say

"Yeah, Ivy?"

"Just one day. Then you can take me on a date, we could watch a movie and eat ice cream-

"Uh okay...looks like you have it all planned?'' I feel him smiling through the phone.

"Someone has to,'' I say.

"What are you doing?" Spencer asks.

"Lying on the bed," I sigh. "You?"

"Making coffee," he replies.

"Do you miss your mom?" I cautiously ask Spencer. "Only if you are comfortable talking about it...

"I do. A lot," Spencer responds solemnly. "I miss how she used to be before."

"What do you mean?"

"Before my little brother, Jay, died...mom and Jay were really close, and when Jay died, everything changed. My mom was no longer the person I used to know. She lost herself...she got herself into drugs and everything and well she cheated on dad...so yeah.''

Spencer's revelation shocks me. I had no idea he had a little brother and that he had been through so much pain.

"You had a brother? I'm so sorry. But how did Jay..." I hesitate.

"He had brain cancer," Spencer explains.

"I'm really sorry. It must be hard for you."

"It is what it is, but I wish life came with a rewind button though...not to change anything but just to relive those moments."
