I toss my bag onto the bed with frustration, causing a slight jolt that sends my head colliding with my makeup pouch. "Damn it," I mutter under my breath, feeling a surge of anger welling up inside me.
Feeling a surge of frustration and a longing for Spencer's presence, I decide to take a leap of faith and reach out to him. With trembling fingers, I dial his number, hoping for a familiar voice on the other end. To my disappointment, his phone goes straight to voicemail like it has been for the past week. I can't help but acknowledge that Liz and Samuel, who were once fixtures in my life, were never truly my friends. Our connections were superficial, built upon the foundation of my relationship with Jason and the party lifestyle we shared. It's a sobering realization, but one that ultimately frees me from the need to maintain those shallow connections.
Despite any lingering guilt over how things ended with Jason, I know deep down that it was the right decision. I feel free.
