Spencer
The day passes by swiftly, and during lunchtime, I find myself dining alone in the serene garden. Jason, whom I had planned to have lunch with, couldn't be reached on his phone. Guilt starts to gnaw at me every time and I sit down alone.
After a productive second half of the day running errands, I finally make my way back to the dormitory to work on my internship tasks. After working for solid 2 hours, exhaustion kicks in and I find myself dozing off at my desk.
My slumber is abruptly interrupted by the sound of my ringing phone, "Hello," I mumble.
"Hey," Spencer's voice seeps in through the phone, making me wide awake. "Where should we meet?" He adds. His question confuses me momentarily but then the realisation hits- I glance at the clock and realise it's already 5'o clock. I had plans to meet up with him.
"At my place? If you're okay wi-
"Your place it is. I'll be there in 10.'' He says and hangs up the call.
I frantically jump off the bed and glance at my room which is a complete mess. I shove the extra clothes lying on the floor into my cupboard and organize everything to my best. After swiftly tidying up my room, I make my way to the washroom to freshen up. I splash some cool water on my face, revitalizing my senses and apply a touch of perfume. As I exit the washroom, I hear the sound of the doorbell ringing.
I hurriedly open the door to find Spencer standing there, his tousled brown hair cascading over his captivating face. As his gaze meets mine, a warm smile lights up his expression. He hands me a paper bag, emanating an aroma that awakens my appetite.
"What's in this?'' I ask.
"Pizza from Joe's. Thought it would be a nice treat for us.'' He replies with a soft chuckle says and plants a peck on his cheek.
I step aside and gesture for him to come in. "Make yourself comfortable".
"Do you want something to drink?" I ask Spencer.
"Wow, is that you?" Spencer exclaims, pointing towards a childhood photograph of mine. "You look incredibly cute." He adds and I can't help but chuckle.
"Is that your dad with you?" He asks.
"Yeah. We used to go fishing quite often. Wow. It feels like it was yesterday.'' I reply with a soft sigh.
"You love him a lot don't you?"
"He's a piece of me. He always will be." I say. "So, do you want some Cola with the Pizza?" I add and he nods in agreement.
Wait a minute...Spencer McKeller and I are alone in my room!!
"Ivy?'' Spencer calls.
"Coming,'' I reply and make my way to the room.
I place the pizza box and cola on the nightstand, ensuring they are within easy reach. I purposely leave my phone on the kitchen counter, to prevent any unnecessary suspicions if Jason were to call.
Breaking the silence, I say "How's your dad doing?"
"He's better now. The doctor advised him to rest as much as he can for now." Spencer says taking a sip from the glass.
"If you ever need any help, or even just a shoulder to cry on, remember that I'm here for you," I say.
"Thanks, Ivy,'' He says and reaches out and takes my hand, interlocking our fingers. As I bask in the solace and happiness that Spencer's presence brings me, the weight of my deception begins to weigh heavy on my conscience. I can't help but wonder if Spencer assumes that I have already ended my relationship with him, adding a layer of guilt to the mix of emotions swirling within me.
