Running through the dark forest, the small peaks of the moonlight phase through the leaves of the trees, like a ray of sunshine through a curtain. But in the night a figure chases after the runner.

His hand was placed on the handle of the katana. Ready to take it out on the culprit. The culprit was running through the woods at immense speed. He was right above them, glancing at them occasionally to make sure not to lose them.

Seeing he was in front of them, he took this opportunity to stop their path from escaping further. The culprit wavered in their path as the chaser jumped in front of them and sheathed the katana out and pointed at their neck.

They took out a deep breath and raised their hands up, surrendering.

???: "You should give up, Y/N. You know I won't stop chasing you until you're dropped dead."

The culprit, Y/N L/N. A demon who ran for her life away from demon slayers. She was once a human. Someone's lover. And that lover was in front of her threatening her.

Y/N: "Shu. We both know you can't kill me."

Y/N slowly placed her fingertip on the tip of the katana, letting her lower the katana down. She walked closer to him, closing the distance between them. She smiled bitterly at him. Tilting her head when he looked away, his head down avoiding her eyes.

Shu: "And you know it is a part of my job."

Y/N: "Haaaa... You remember Naru and Aiger?"

Shu meekly nodded still avoiding her eyes. Making her sigh and grabbed his chin with her sharp nails slightly digging into his skin and faced her.

Shu: "Yeah...? Why are you bringing them up?"

Y/N: "Really? You know why. Naru became a demon and Aiger didn't want her to get killed when you tried to kill her. A demon and a human can still be family. Even lovers could also be a demon and a human. Like us. If... there even is us."

Y/N's speech made Shu go quiet. He broke the tension between them with a tight hug. He hugged her close to him so she won't disappear again. His heart broke when she never told him that he was dating a demon. Even so, he loved her for herself and never imagined a life without her.

Shu whispered in her ear with a sad and cracked little that made Y/N's heart shake a little.

"And you know I would never give you up."
