Not long after this, Diana came across another person who would come to have great influence over story. See, Bruce had grown quite fond of having her by his side for certain tendencies. Any party he was invited to, she was invited to. Though, she could easily count the number of events she had attended over the past months on her one hand, it was quite curious to see that each time she had in fact attended one, Joker would be the first to ask her about it. As Diana and Bruce became closer, she came to lose certain interests, especially with her official and unofficial duties. On allowance of the board, she had been relieved of some of her patients, though she remained mostly in the management of their treatment. She had said that she wanted to focus more on her important patients like the Joker and like Crane. Though, no such thing would truly happen. Many directors thought that she needed the space and time to develop on her current position. With that, she received another day off, her Mondays, which meant that Joker's appointment would be rescheduled to Tuesday. She worked longer, yet less days. And she was more often found at her own office.

That Saturday the annual winter-gala was to take place at the Ritz Hotel in downtown Gotham City. It was usually held in the month of December yet due to certain shortages, it had to be rescheduled. In truth, the committee of Gotham City was bankrupt. However, many of its richer families spent their own money on the event in he hopes of restoring the city to its former glory. The mayor was one of these rich fools, who took too great of a value within parties of praise. Only the rich were dull enough to deny their bankruptcy. All the while the real citizens of Gotham protested and pleaded for help.

Bruce had already made up his mind, this time he was sure it would be official. He would have her with him as his partner, that is what he wanted. After all, she had stayed with him for so many times, it began to appear as if they were a married couple. Though to Diana's opinion they were closer to friends than to being married. Bruce had taken Diana with him a few times before, but never as his partner. After all, Diana was not even sure of what the two were exactly doing. It seemed all too fast but then again it seemed to be remarkably familiar, since they had known each other for so much longer.

Alfred on the other hand was more than happy to see this sort of development. He had tried for quite some time to find a certain someone for Bruce to befriend, to have him live again. In fact, Bruce only started going to events after he had met Diana, and he went not frequently. Most of the times he went, he went for certain serious business, yet since he was able to take Diana with him, he now went for the sake of "amusement". Though it was debatable whether or not the parties were actually amusing. Alfred ought it to be Bruce's way of contributing to his family's legacy as well as showing his face once more. His secret nature added not to the style the Wayne family had carried for years. Diana, she acted like the Wayne family, though he would not expect otherwise from a Watson.

Diana had been used to a life of luxury; she was quite happy to find herself in a similar place as she had been before. Bruce was sure to provide for her, he bought her gifts as well, though he seemed not at all as a materialistic person, at least not personally. The expensive cars and watches were part of his wall, that is what Diana had not yet been able to remove. He appeared also to be very interested in those things, not for their appearance, yet for their function. He was especially fond of the mechanical side to cars. Diana had mentioned once that her father dealt in cars, she could remember he was quite interested in her father. Though she did not want for them to meet, she did not even want to see her parents herself, she hadn't heard from them in a month. On her birthday, she had but only received a large amount of money onto her bank account and a large giftbox with some designer nitwits in it, wrapped with a bow and a card saying: Regards T. Watson.

Diana had not been in a particularly good mood for the past week or two, especially after she had had her performance review. Bruce had noticed that she dressed differently for a period of three days, then had seen her become angry with herself, and return more to herself on the outside, yet on the inside he did not know what went on. She was different; however, she didn't  feel as if she was changed, she seemed to become more like her true self. And even Bruce had to admit that sometimes he could be very disturbed by her hypocrisy and vainness.
