I could not stop thinking about the weirdness with Spencer two days ago. We'd been friends basically forever and never - not once- have I ever gazed at Spencer, focused on his body, stared into his eyes. I'd never felt well... something. It's confusing and odd. It's been bugging me since. I had spent the rest of the day glued to Zack. He'd loved every minute of it. I loved Zack something fierce but that Sunday proved kids were great buffers. Spencer was odd too. He kept looking at me but would avoid my gaze when our eyes clashed. He was jittery and I swear I'd caught a blush when I'd turned from bending to pull the tray from the oven.

Maybe I wasn't alone in my feelings - what ever they were? It didn't matter though because whatever it was it was... odd and definitely meant nothing. Couldn't. I had Davey and he's all I've wanted for years.

"Are you okay?" I startled. Davey was frowning towards me and I shook my head, realizing that once again, I'd let myself get swept up in my frantic thoughts again.

I forced a smile his way. "I'm sorry. Just a bit distracted but, I'm alright. Things are all good." He didn't look convinced. I turned from his gaze and stared back down at my menu. There were a lot of choices. My stomach was in a knot. I wondered again, as I always seemed to, why all our dates were at restaurants.

"We have to eat, don't we." I blinked and looked up at Davey. His smile was small; uncertain.

"Huh?"

"You asked why our dates are always at restaurants."

I blushed and dropped my hands into my palms. "I'm an idiot." I grumbled into my hands. Davey's laugh was gentle. I felt a tug on my hands and soon, they were pulled into Davey's. I felt his foot nudge mine and I looked up. His eyes were bright, his smile wide enough that a little dimple had popped on his left chin. I'd always loved his dimple. I'd rarely seen it years.

"Nothing to be embarrassed about."

I scoffed. "I didn't mean to say it out loud."

He shrugged. "It's a valid point. I guess it's an expected thing with dates, don't you think? Never really considered much else."

I nibbled my lip and glanced back down at my menu. The knot tightened. "It's not bad."

Davey hummed, released her hands and leaned back against his seat. I mimicked his actions, watching his face carefully. He looked pensive, an odd sight. Silence settled for a few moments until he eventually sighed loudly. "I need to up my game then." He nodded once. Settled then. Davey reached for his menu and then said, "I'm going for the mutton curry. Have you chosen yet?"

I hadn't. Davey had insisted we try the new restaurant a friend from work had suggested. Apparently it had the best Indian food in the city. I didn't eat Indian food and I was hopelessly lost. The knot twisted more and I cringed in my seat. "Could you give me a moment? I just need to use the bathroom." I didn't wait for an answer and jumped from my seat. I reached the bathroom which was thankfully empty and hit my speed dial.
