Y/N, Daphne, and Snape arrived in the Headmasters office to see Dumbledore waiting.

"I trust you know why you're here Y/N?"

"Yes, get on with it and tell me my punishment." Y/N said as Dumbledore looked at him

"I would like to know in your own words what happened Mr Malfoy."

"Draco called Hermione Granger a name, one I refuse to repeat. It began with M and ended with D."

"There are many offensive names that fit that, would you feel better writing it?" Dumbledore asked as Y/N looked at him.

"No."

"Y/N, are you aware that your future here at this school depends on your choice right now?" Dumbledore asked as Y/N nodded.

"I am sir. And I still refuse to say it." Y/N said as Dumbledore nodded.

"Y/N, please, just tell us the word, don't be some prideful fool like a Gryffindor." Snape said as Y/N shook his head.

"I refuse to speak that foul, disgusting word, you want to expel me for that then go right ahead, I'll be gone by tomorrow. But I'm not saying that word." Y/N said as he looked to Dumbledore who nodded.

"Very well. You will be on detention for the next week." Dumbledore said as he looked at Y/N. "you have only yourself to blame, Y/N, your temper will continue getting you into trouble...what have you to say for yourself?"

"With respect sir, you're an ancient, bearded git with breath that could probably paralyze a mountain troll." Y/N remarked before storming out, leaving Dumbledore laughing despite the insult.

"Professor Snape, Miss Greengrass, would you both mind keeping an eye on him. Please." Dumbledore said calmly as both Daphne and Snape nodded.

"I'll keep an eye on him, but not for you." Daphne said as she left, hoping to catch up to Y/N. The door closed behind her as Snape turned to look at Albus.

"You know what word it was don't you?" Albus asked as Snape nodded.

"Unfortunately...yes." Snape said bluntly. "I must commend Y/N for standing his ground, even when his future is at risk."

"I too must commend him for that, but I cannot set a precedent for insubordination." Dumbledore stated as Snape thought for a moment.

"Perhaps if you trusted him to not be insubordinate, he might just prove your trust to be well placed." Snape said.

"What do you mean Severus?"

"I mean if you were to perhaps stop trying to control every thing about his actions, he may just pleasantly surprise you." Snape stated, not backing an inch as Dumbledore looked at him.

"What would you suggest?"

"For one, give him his job back, we both know the badge belongs with him and not that bumbling idiot."

"You know Fudge would not hear of it." Dumbledore said as he looked Severus in the eyes. "And I understand your feelings to the boy-"

"No, I have been your good and faithful servant Albus, I have spied for you, I have even killed for you. But do not attempt to claim you understand my feelings to the boy. It's my job to take care of him, more so than anyone else. I am telling you...things were better for everyone with him in the position of head boy."

"I do not disagree that they were better. If it were truly up to me, I would give him the job back right now. However, the ministry and the school board do not share my sentiment." Dumbledore said as Snape stormed out of the room, furious with Dumbledore...
