Y/N was in the Head Boy's dorms, unpacking his belongings. Bellatrix was sitting on one of the beds swinging her legs off of the edge of the bed.

"What happened to your face?" Bellatrix asked as Y/N looked at her and thought for a moment.

"Death Eaters attacked the quidditch world cup, one of them attacked me with a cursed knife." Y/N said as he turned to look at her. "Be honest, how bad does it look?"

"It makes you look like a hard case. You'd have fitted in with my small squad of aurors when I used to work there." Bellatrix said as she looked at him. "And, not to say, I think some of the girls find it attractive. Especially beautiful blondie downstairs in the common room."

Y/N paused for a moment.

"You care about her, don't you?" Bellatrix asked as Y/N continued his pause before looking at her.

"No. She's just the least annoying person to share a quarters with." Y/N lied as he looked at Bellatrix who nodded. "So...did you enjoy your holiday?"

"On occasion." Bellatrix said as she looked at him, she saw him finish unpacking and watched him file his books onto a conjured bookshelf, among the books were various books unrelated to his magical studies, she noticed criminal psychology books, general psychology books, criminology books, chemistry books, literature study books, history books, and forensic science books.

She looked at him as he put up photo of him, Narcissa, Draco, and Lucius when the two boys were young, putting it onto the top shelf of the bookshelf that was empty, next to it, Y/N put up a photo of him, Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Daphne, the five of them all smiling. He looked at the photo before smiling at the final photo of Bigby and Snow holding him when he was a baby.

Y/N paused and turned to see Bellatrix looking at the photo of Narcissa, he thought for a moment before taking it from the shelf.

"Here." Y/N said as Bellatrix looked confused. "Keep it. Something to keep her memory fresh when it gets tough."

Bellatrix smiled as Y/N looked at her.

"I need to ask you something Y/N."

"Shoot." Y/N said calmly as he lit a cigarette.

"This thing, between us...will it work, do you think you can fix me? I become the very thing I swore to fight." Bellatrix asked as Y/N looked at her.

"Bellatrix, I want you to look at me, and listen, listen carefully, okay? Some people are too far gone. You're not. You tried to stop Riddle and his friends, you tried to keep people safe. You get to come back. You do." Y/N said as he looked her in the eyes, she nodded at him before smiling.

"Than-"

"Don't...don't ever thank me for doing this. If I expected something in return for helping someone in need, what would that make me?" Y/N said as he smiled at her. "Now, I've got a day of lessons to attend. Take care Bellatrix."

As Y/N left, Bellatrix sat on the bed before transforming into her cat form and running off to explore.

"Alastor Moody. Ex-Auror...Ministry malcontent...and your new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. I am here because Dumbledore asked me. End of story, goodbye, the end. Any questions?" Moody said before looking around the class, the silence weighing heavy in the air. "When it comes to the Dark Arts...I believe in a practical approach. But first, which of you can tell me how many unforgivable curses there are?"

Hermione was about to answer but hesitated, looking to Y/N who she knew for certain knew the answer as well as her, but he made no effort to answer the question. Hermione decided to pick up the slack. Even Daphne was hesitant to broach the subject, which gave weight to just how much of a taboo it seemed to be in the school.
