Evelyn watches the last of the Hawks depart with the Solstice decorations from the Courtyard down to the City below, hands clasped in front of her abdomen. She's standing next to the Guardian Games statue, watching the ships descend in clean, straight line formations. She watched them disappear into the low-hanging fog before turning to see Zavala step away from the railing of his usual outlook on the city. With a raised eyebrow, she sauntered over to the Commander, hesitantly holding out a hand to rest on his shoulder, but not quite touching.
Eve; "... Commander? Everything well?"
Zavala turned around and, for a moment, she could see deep lines in his face and eyes expressing distress, but they faded slightly as he forced a meager smile, holding his wrists behind his back.
Zavala; "I'm fine, Chief... Just, considering our options."
He turned back to the railing and rested his hands on it as Eve came to stand alongside him, and she could hear him let out a heavy sigh.
Zavala; "We have to resurrect one of our oldest enemies to stop our worst enemies...The enemy of our enemy is not our friend. This may have been part of her plan for all we know."
Eve rested her crossed arms on the railing as well, looking to the fleet with the Commander.
Zavala; "I'm left again to wonder if we've done the right thing. Perhaps it would have been better to leave the Traveler in the Throne World. Perhaps not."
.
He turned to look at Evelyn and she finally parted her "lips" to speak.Eve; "... I believe you will do what is right. We all will. You've led us for so long. Saint would not have entrusted the position to you otherwise."
He turned to look at Eve, his forced smile steadily becoming genuine as his eyes softened a bit.
Eve; "I've always known you to do right by us. Bad things happen, yes, but they're never your fault. A good friend told me we must... Go with the flow. Don't let these bad things slow us down. If we try to go against the current... It just makes things worse. That's all I can really say on that; just roll with it, and it'll be fine. I know you won't let us down, Commander."
Eve looked to Zavala and returned the smile, exchanging a nod with him before she turned and walked back towards her office. Zavalas gaze lingered on the Exo as he muttered to himself.
Zavala; "Go with the flow..."
He shook his head with a dry chuckle, looking back to the fleet over the city.
Zavala; "Were it so easy."
