Evelyn stood before the withering remains of The Witness, watching their form dissolve into the Light that shot out from Nolan, who levitated only half a meter in front of her. Nolans voice was weak and glitching, his shell slowly turning to look at Eve.

Nolan; "*Heh... Finally did something with myself, huh?*"

His eye flickered before going out, and a Light silhouette of Eve left her as Nolan dropped to the ground, Eve barely having the reflexes to leap to the ground and catch him in her hands. She immediately got up on her knees, mumbling.

Eve; "Nolan? Please, Nolan, please be ok..."

She cradled him close to his chest, her voice choking up as she closed her eyes.

Eve; "*No, no... Not you...*"

Eve whimpered quietly, slowly bending over as she silently wept, opening her eyes only a moment to look to the Monolith, seeing a pillar of Light shooting out of the top of it, letting out a primal, sorrowful wail that echoed off the obsidian walls.

She bowed her head, crying aloud as she held Nolan to her chest before she saw a shadow grow in front of her; the face of Nezarec, floating in the air, all 7 of his eyes glowing with Void plasma. Eve looked up at him, sniffling as she sat on her knees, keeping Nolan to her chest as her voice cracked occasionally.

Eve; "*... It's done... I hope you're happy.*"

Nezarec let out a quiet hum, his eyes turning to Nolan, prompting Eve to turn her body to keep him further away from the final god of pain.

Nezarec; "Indeed... But I can see incubating Karabast is taking its toll on you as well-"

Eve frowned at Nezarec.

Eve; "*I would sooner **die** than give Nolan to you.*"

Nezarec chuckled lowly, his eyes turning back to meet Evelyns.

Nezarec; "Oh, you misunderstand, Guardian... I can bring him back, too. But, I will need to accelerate the development of Karabast; It will take almost everything you have... But you will live. As will he."

Eve wiped a hand across her cheek with a sniffle, letting out a frustrated huff when there were no tears. After a moment of staring at Nolan, brushing a thumb across his shell, she looked back up to Nezarec, steeling her expression and clearing her throat before speaking.

Eve; "Do it."

A brighter glow of Void was seen in the middle of all of Nezarecs eyes, and Eve held a hand to her head, wincing in paic.

Nezarec; "Hehehehe... Pleasure doing business with you."

Nezarec faded away once he finished speaking, and a cone of Void plasma, like that emitted by a Void Spike was seen behind Eves head. Karabast leapt out from the Void behind Evelyn, landing on their feet with a scythe in their hands. Once the Void dissipated, Evelyn let out a cry of pain that echoed across the arena and she collapsed onto her stomach, all the lights in her face going out. Karabast turned back to Evelyn, reaching out with a free hand and rolling her over onto her stomach, delicately resting her hands on her stomach, doing his best to make her appear at peace and leaving Nolan on her chest.

Nolan himself now bore a shell like the black stone all around them, the top and bottom pieces bearing tips of shimmering Resonance. Once done, Karabast stood and shouldered the scythe, giving Eve a nod before speaking in the Dread tongue.

Karabast; "Zu'u zin hii, Evelyn. Aal mu grik neh tiid." (I respect you, Evelyn. May we never meet again.)

He then disappeared in a flurry of Void plasma; the same way a Warlock may Blink away... The same way Eve would. Soon after, Nolans eye flickered back on after a few seconds, and he looked around.
