Zorah sat on the couch of the temporary apartment Eve was granted, sitting opposite of Eve herself. Though it was the very same chassis of Evelyn, it didn't feel like the Evelyn Zorah had come to know... In her Psion mind, it felt like a brand new person, vacated of memories and personality, leaving only the barest of built-in behaviors. Every time she acknowledged it, she shifted uncomfortably in her seat as a Crucible match played on the monitor ahead of them.
When there was a knock on the door, Zorah swiftly stood and walked to the door, opening it to see Wyrm standing there, along with a Hunter in all black armor. Wyrm folded his arms over his chest before speaking, taking a deep breath.
Wyrm; "Zorah... Where's Nolan?"
Zorah spoke mentally to the both of them, gesturing to the computer room to her left.
Zorah; "He's... In there. He hasn't come out in a few days."
Wyrm nodded with a soft smile before heading over to the room, the Hunter coming over to Zorah and looking at her with his hands clasped in front of his abdomen, letting out a quiet gasp when he heard the voice in his head.
Hunter; "Fascinating! I've never had actual psychic communication that way before! And it's so clear and distinct! How many more mirror neurons do Psions have compared to Humans? Are there any brain chemicals involved in the process?"
Wyrm snapped his fingers to get the Hunters attention, Zorah continuing to look at the Hunter with a raised brow.
Wyrm; "Morgan, we can ask technical questions later; We're here on a mission."
The Hunter nodded with a sigh, straightening to his posture.
Morgan; "Right, sorry."
Morgan gave a sheepish wave to Zorah before stepping around her and going over to Wyrm as he opened the door to the computer room, seeing Nolan floating in front of a monitor, letting out a quiet sigh when he heard the door open.
Wyrm; "Nolan? You're not busy, are you?"
Nolan spoke without turning to look at Wyrm, scrolling through a news article.
.
Nolan; "... She always wanted to have an apartment in the core district, did you know that? Even while she lived in the Eliksni Quarter, she would tell me, "I'm gonna move into the core, so I can be closer to my favorite restaurant."..."He trailed off as Wyrm took a step in, resting a hand on the desk, Nolan finally turning to look Wyrm in the face,
Wyrm; "We're going to recover Evelyns memories from the Deep Stone Crypt."
Nolans eye narrowed, leaning in close.
Nolan; "Don't bullshit me; those are old, from the Golden Age."
Morgan cleared his throat before speaking, making Nolan look his way.
Morgan; "Well, they would be... But that's the amazing thing, they're recent! According to the Hidden, some of the files date back to only a day or two before the raid on the monolith and the death of The Witness! She must've gone to Europa herself-"
Wyrm continued Morgans sentence, Nolan looking back at the Titan.
Wyrm; "Like she knew this could happen. Morgan and I are going to Bray Exoscience ourselves, we're not counting on a Splicer to conduct a remote download."
Nolan looked down a moment, letting out a hum of contemplation.
Nolan; "... I'm going with you."
Morgan stammered a little, unsure of what to do with his hands.
Morgan; "Look, I uh, mean no offense, but... You're just a Ghost."
Nolan looked back up to make eye contact with Morgan, letting out a chuckle.
Nolan; "There was... An idea."
-------
Morgan, Wyrm and Nolan made their way through the halls of RUIN HQ, entering the research wing and passing myriad laboratories and corridors, eventually reaching one labeled "Project; Nesting doll".Nolan; "An idea to give Ghosts the means to fight without being paired to a Guardian. It felt horrendously out of character at the time, but I volunteered to test out the platform."
.
He scanned over a console near the door and caused it to open, revealing an Exo body with the head removed, replaced by a helmet opened to the air, the interior holding a slot perfectly shaped for a Ghost shell. Morgan rushed past Wyrm to look over the modified helmet.Morgan; "Oh, I could list out the parts that make this work for *days*."
Wyrm shook his head with a smirk, resting his hands on his hips.
Wyrm; "I'd like to start the mission sometime today, thank you. So how's this work, Nolan?"
Nolan flew over to the helmet as well, scanning over it as the lights turned on overhead.
Nolan; "Well, it was based off some tech another Guardian had put together that let their Ghost posses their Exo body in emergencies. Same principle, but this Exo body had its head removed... So it's all under my control, no other person to worry about."
Once he was inside, the helmet closed up and a light came on, Nolans voice coming through the helmet shortly after.
Nolan; "I tested it out for a bit under the designation "Codetalk", because it's got encrypted comms borrowed from Warmind bunkers."
Morgan listened with an open mouth smile, hand over his mouth.
Morgan; "Oh, my Light... Eve never told me about this!"
Nolan turned to look at Morgan, flexing the arms and fingers of the body he now possessed.
Nolan; "There's a lot of things she never told anyone... Hell, I don't know all the secrets she kept, the memories in the Crypt is news to me."
Wyrm smirked as he watched Nolan manuever the Exo body, having it don a trench coat with an armored vest underneath, along with armored pants and boots.
Wyrm; "Well, House Salvation and Wrathborn are still crawling through Braytech on Europa, so let's not waste any time.
Wyrm put on his helmet shortly after, taking the Black Armory sidearm off his hip and racking the slide.
Wyrm; "Let's get the Chief of Security back."
