Chapter 17: It Was A Dream?

"Em," a voice called and poked my arm. I ignored it and continued my beauty sleep. But after a while, the same thing happened.

"Emma, wake up." he chuckled. Jax?

My eyes fluttered open as I realized where we were: the bus. The thing is, what am I doing here? I look down on my outfit and realized that I'm wearing the same attire I wore during the field trip to Miami Zoo.

I really don't understand what's going on.

Does this mean that-

"The bus just parked. Are we going to the zoo or not?" Jax asked. I just sat on my seat, looking as clueless as ever, so he just pulled me until we got out of the bus.

Right when we got outside, I saw Mia and Andi fanning themselves with their hands. I don't blame them, it's really hot out here. But they were moving, and so was everyone else. But why?

The last thing I remember was sleeping at Jax's while everyone was frozen. We both knew that time would go on again by noon.

Then it hit me like a ton of bricks when I realized...

It was just a dream.

Holy shit.

How could I have thought that we would get back together? That we would fly to Paris just to have a romantic dinner? That we would do other magical exciting things together? I couldn't even believe all of that was a dream.

It was all to good to be a dream.

If you haven't taken the hint yet, I'm internally crying. It may just be me being emotional or the fact that it's my time of the month, making me even more emotional.

Then one thought struck me: what if the time freeze was the secret magical button to reverse time?

I tried my best to shake my thoughts off and focused back on the zoo trip. Not to mention, Jax holding my hand helped me shake those thoughts off. Good job, Jaxy.

As we were walking closer and closer to the birds section, Andi and Mia's mischevious smirks grew bigger and bigger while Jax looked more clueless than... anyone, actually.

"That exhibit looks ah-mazing just looking at it from the outside." Mia shouted, pointing at the birds exhibit not too far from where we were at. She made sure everyone heard it.

And as planned, eventually, everyone heard her speak and turned their heads to her and Andi, including my dad and Jax, who's eyeballs were about to pop out of its sockets (just like they planned, of course).

Andi shot Jax a devillish glare. "I agree. Don't you, Jax?"

Jax gulped and scowled at her. "No, Andi, I would prefer to go anywhere else."

From behind us, I heard Maddie comment, "Oh, for the love of God, just man up." louder than she should have spoke. I heard Jax growl at all of their comments but covered it up instantly.

"Look, it's a photo booth. Why don't we go there first?" Smiling down at me, he added, "Per partner."

Everyone agreed with him, messing up Mia and Andi's plan, and went through with Jax's.

Finally giving up, Andi said, "Fine, let's go."
