The next morning, Emma was still thinking of what Daniel's announcement last night. It was already eight o' clock in the morning and she is still laying in her bed. She browsed through her phone, checking her Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, iMessage, etc.
She finally rose after a few minutes and headed to the kitchen. She was happily greeted, "Good morning, sweetie!" by her father. She grabbed a bowl, opened a box of cereal, filled the bowl with milk, and made her own breakfast.
She then sat on the couch, turned on the TV, put her feet up on the low-leveled table and started eating. Her father was very confused of what she was doing today. It was as if she woke up from a transformation.
The concerned father asked, "Em, are you okay?"
She sarcastically answered, "Never better."
Later that afternoon, Daniel decided to visit Emma and bond for the rest of their afternoon as their last day together. But something made him stop himself, overhearing Andi and Emma's conversation.
Andi remarked, "I swear I heard him say that he took Mia on a date to the beach. I know we haven't gotten along that much but you've got to believe me, Em."
Emma retorted, "I doubt Daniel would cheat on me like that. Plus, Mia's one of my good friends, too."
Andi asked, "Then why was Daniel not in the first half of the days this week?"
The boy held on to the unlocked door knob, waiting for the right timing for him to barge in and explain.
"I'll call Daniel and ask for an explanation."
Daniel opened the door at the right time and stopped them from leaving the house. "I'm here."
"Perhaps you may want to explain yourself, newbie Miller." Andi crossed her arms and cocked her eyebrow. There was a brief pause before he replied.
Daniel asked, "What do you mean?"
"You know what I'm talking about. Mia... your girl... a date... the beach... without being caught... skipping school. What Andi told me."
"Andi must've been stalking me," the boy snickered. The girls crossed their arms and waited for a good explanation to come out of his mouth.
"Now that my slightly embarrasing secret is out, I can tell you that I'm a babysitter." The girls' eyes widdened as they heard his announcement. Babysitter, really?
He explained, "My family is somewhat having financial problems, which is why we're moving to Houston tommorow because my dad got a job there. For the meantime, I was babysitting Mia's little cousins in their beachhouse for the past few days. She helped me with it but I still earned myself some cash to, at least, help my family."
"Aww, that's so sweet."
Andi retaliated, "Em, you're buying that?
"Wait... What about the date?" Emma asked.
"It was just a play date, as friends."
"Yep, as friends," she muttered under her breath and rolled her eyes. Daniel must've heard her sassy comment.
"Yeah, Em, you heard me. As friends. Just like you & Jax!"
Just as he said that, Jax was midway through the open front door. Emma's gaze turned to him in shock, coming in a slightly bad timing.
