It was Friday the Free Day for the Iridium High Sophomores. Every year, a day after their field trip, they take a free day off which serves as a rest day. But for the students, they don't necessarily rest - well, except for the fact that they can wake up as late as eleven because no one gives a damn if you wake up late.
"So, you guys want some Freedom Fries to go with the Freedom Friday mood? I could pick some up from Army Navy," Mia asked, "... or should I say Freedom Fry-day." She laughed at her own joke but stopped once she saw that her two BFFs weren't even listening.
Andi and Emma were too pre-occupied with using their phones to listen to her whilst Mia was sitting on the floor charging hers.
"What kind of fries do you want? McDonalds?"
"Nah, we're good." Andi and Emma replied.
Mia was bored out of her mind so she watched what the two were doing on their phones. She sneaked onto the back of the couch that Andi was sitting on, and tilted her head closer to her phone, but she made sure that she wasn't too obvious. She found Andi playing Clash of Clans, attacking another village.
"Still bored," she thought.
She silently scooted over to the other couch, where Emma sat, and creeped behind the edge of the couch, giving her enough space to look at she was doing: texting Jax. She read each message silently.
Jax: Sorry, Em. Can't come over today. Working at the Seven. Diego needed extra help.
Emma: Why? Because of Gigi?
Jax: Yes, obviously. Why don't you come here instead? We could work together and I could use some help.
Emma: Sure, be there in 5.
Jax: K. Just tele-transport if you want to, like I taught you, haha. Love you. ❤️
Emma: Love you, too. ❤️
Mia raised an eyebrow and wondered why Emma hadn't told them about it yet. She slowly placed her hands near Emma's shoulders in preparation of surprising/scaring her. The dead silence in this room really fits the moment. She pushed her arms and asked, "Cute convo. You and Jax are dating again?"
She flinched in surprise. "You scared me."
"And you didn't tell us?" Andi complained. Wow, she cares about her relationship with Birdman.
"I did."
"When?"
"The ride home yesterday. Didn't you hear my dad blabbing with happiness?"
Yesterday, you should've seen Francisco react to Emma telling him about Jax. The Fine Bros should probably include him in Elders React. The comments will be overwhelming. His reaction is like a teenager finding WiFi connection in the desert - glorious.
Andi responded, "We were sleeping at the bus."
"I was talking about the car ride."
Mia retorted, "Again, sleeping."
"Well, no wonder you didn't talk. Anyways, GTG to the Seven, Jax needs extra help with the Ruedas."
~~~~~
At the Seven, the original staff were hardly even working. Gigi was too busy vlogging AND blogging (there's a difference), Diego was training his Kanay powers (aka hang with the Panthers), Hector and Oscar are having a meeting with the Guidance counselor along with their parents (small chance that they're permitted to work by their parents when they're in trouble, so Jax's alone... with Emma.
A small brunette whined, "Where's my pizza?" And she wasn't even complaining to the workers, she was complaining to her parents.
Another approached the counter and complained, "It's been ten minutes, where's my drink?"
And another. "I didn't eat breakfast and I'm desperately hungry right now."
"Don't expect your tip jar to be full when your service is so slow." One angry customer remarked. A few of them even started to leave. Jax and Emma were so stressed that they froze everyone in the world.
It's just the two of them.
