Y/A/N woke up to the early morning light shining into the apprentices den. She yawned, got up and stretched out, looking around the den. She remembered her old loner den, which already felt so long ago, even it hadn't even been a moon yet. She smiled and padded out, carefully stepping over the bodies of the other sleeping apprentices, and made her way into the clearing. Y/A/N could see Brambleclaw organizing the morning patrols, and the apprentice sat down near the entrance to the apprentice den, watching the patrols get together and leave the hollow. She waited for a bit until more cats had woken up, and the hollow began bustling a bit with activity. Y/A/N was just watching everything, and hadn't noticed when Hollypaw came up behind her. "Hey Y/A/N! Up already?" She said, startling the other she-cat. "Oh, sorry! Didn't mean to scare you heh" Hollypaw said as Y/A/N turned around. "It's okay Hollypaw, I wasn't paying attention" She explained.

"Well you might not want to be as distracted when Brightheart starts training you" Hollypaw said, flicking her tail. "Come on, let's go see what we're doing today" Y/A/N nodded and followed Hollypaw over to where the mentors that didn't go on patrol were. Hollypaw padded up to her mentor Brackenfur as Brightheart came up to Y/A/N. "Ready to start your training?" She asked, and Y/A/N nodded excitedly. "Definitely!" Brightheart turned to the other mentors and chatted with them for a moment, deciding on what they were going to train with their apprentices. She turned back to Y/A/N. "Okay, we're going to start out with exploring the territory today, and maybe some hunting if we've got time. I heard you were by yourself for some time so I assume you already know how to hunt a bit at least". Y/A/N nodded and Brightheart motioned for the apprentice to follow her, and Y/A/N did so.

Brightheart took Y/A/N out of the hollow, and headed around the Thunderclan camp and went in the direction facing the back of it. "First, we're going to the border that faces away from the lake, then we'll check out the Shadowclan border, then go along the lake and finish with the Windclan border" Brightheart explained. Y/A/N nodded in understanding and they went towards the first border, the pair passing by the location that Y/A/N met Jaypaw. She smiled, remembering their encounter about a half-moon ago. Suddenly she heard Brightheart calling her and Y/A/N realized that she had stopped moving. "Sorry!" She quickly called out and ran up to Brightheart. "I didn't mean to stop" She said. "It's okay" Brightheart reassured the apprentice "Why did you stop though?" "Oh, it's just that it's in that area that I met Jaypaw, which led up to now I guess". Brightheart smiled and flicked her tail over Y/A/N's head. "I understand. The borders just up there" She said, gesturing with her tail. She led Y/A/N to where the border was, and to where there was a scent marker. "Make sure you remember where the scent markers are. This is what you'll be renewing whenever you're on border patrol" Y/A/N nodded and scented the markers, getting to know the Thunderclan scents as well.

Once Y/A/N had gotten it down, Brightheart led her to the Shadowclan border. Y/A/N remembered a part of the first border that she crossed, seeing when she had crossed into Thunderclan territory before. After a bit, the two made their way over to the Shadowclan border. "Alright, I'll show you where each scent marker is, but we're only going to go up to one because I don't want to make Shadowclan think we're doing something besides training, especially with you having been a loner." Y/A/N nodded but asked "What do you mean with me having been a loner?" Brightheart sighed and explained as Y/A/N got to know the Shadowclan scent "Well, Thunderclan is one of the nicest clans I'd say. Any of the other three don't take to kindly to outsiders, and have though Thunderclan to be weak because of it. So we've had problems with Shadowclan and Windclan recently and I don't want them to try anything again" Brightheart explained as she showed Y/A/N the rest of the Shadowclan border, careful not to stray to close to it. "Wait, again? They've already tried something?" The apprentice asked.

"Yeah, not that long ago, Shadowclan tried to take a part of Thunderclan territory because they thought that the loners and kittypets in the clan made us weak" She said, but puffed her chest out "But we showed them that we're just as strong as ever! Drove them right back to their own territory!" Y/A/N smiled at Brighthearts explanation. "So, I do have a question for you, Y/A/N" The warrior asked as they approached the lake. "What's that?" "Well, in the time you've lived alone, did you ever get into any fights? I know we haven't seen you before Jaypaw helped you so it wouldn't have been Thunderclan heh" Brightheart asked. Y/A/N got nervous, unsure if she should answer truthfully that she had never been a fight, or if she should say that she has had a fight with another loner or something. "Well, no, not really. I only saw other cats when I was just finding my own territory, and kind of avoided them because no other loner seemed to be too friendly with me. And when I did find my own area, I hadn't actually met another cat until Jaypaw" Y/A/N answered truthfully.

Brightheart nodded. "Well, that's fine. I'd say you got pretty lucky. I've seen loners cause a lot of hassle over territory" She said, and by this time the cats had reached the middle of the territory alongside the lake. Brightheart flicked her tail, signaling for Y/A/N to stop. When she did, Brightheart pointed her tail towards some rustling. She leaned in and whispered "I saw a vole scuttle to the grass there. Go ahead and try to catch it" She said. Y/A/N nodded, getting into her hunters crouch, unsheathing her claws and slowly going up to the vole. She was careful not to tread on anything that would alert the vole to her presence, and once she felt that she was close enough, she pounced. The vole scrambled, having noticed the apprentice a split-second before she pounced, but Y/A/N managed to grab the preys tail with one paw, keeping it in place for her to pin it completely with her other paw and finish it off with a swift bite to its neck.

She brought her fresh-kill back over to Brightheart, who smiled at the apprentice. "Good catch! Not perfect, but I don't think there's too much I'll have to teach you about hunting. Hey, if you end up catching on to fighting quick enough, you may even become a warrior around the same time as Hollypaw and Lionpaw!" She said. "Now, we'll bury that vole at the base of that tree there," Bright pointed the tree out with her tail. "Mark it, and we'll come back for it after I show you the Windclan border" Y/A/N nodded and buried her prey at the base of the tree, then marked it with her scent. Brightheart then led her apprentice to the Windclan border, and they did the same thing that they did at the Shadowclan border. Y/A/N scented the Windclan border marker, getting herself familiar with their scent. Brightheart then led her down the border to the edge of the territory, where they had started their tour.

"Alright, that's the border. Over there along the stream is the Moonpool, where medicine cats go every half-moon to share tongues with Starclan, our warrior ancestors" Brightheart explained. "Wait, so they actually get to meet cats that have died in the past?" Y/A/N asked. "Yep! Every half-moon. But sometimes a medicine cat or even a clan leader will get a dream from somecat in Starclan, which is usually a prophecy" "That's so cool!" Y/A/N said, now envying Jaypaw as he was a medicine cat apprentice. "I believe tonight's a half-moon too, so Leafpool and Jaypaw will be headed to the Moonpool with the medicine cats from the other clans tonight" Brightheart said as they went back along the Windclan border towards the lake. As they neared the lake, Brightheart stopped Y/A/N. "Hey, what's up?" She asked, and Brightheart pointed her tail towards Windclan territory, where a Windclan patrol was coming up.

The patrol walked up to the border. "Hey Brightheart, who's the cat with you?" One of the cats asked. "Oh, this is Y/A/N, my new apprentice. Why?" "Well, I can scent her from here, and she seems to be a loner" Y/A/N's fur stood up, but Brightheart put her tail in front of the apprentice. "Well, she's not now. She's a Thunderclan apprentice, and that doesn't make our clan any weaker" The Windclan cat scoffed and signaled his patrol to keep going, leaving the pair of Thunderclan cats. "Thanks Brightheart, I wouldn't have known what to say" Y/A/N said, thanking her mentor. "Don't mention it. You're a Thunderclan cat now, any other cat would have done the exact same thing. Now let's go grab your vole and get pack to camp" Brightheart said and padded away, towards the tree that Y/A/N had buried her vole. The apprentice smiled and bounded after her mentor, happy to have been so welcomed into Thunderclan.
