Chapter 13

Y/A/N opened her eyes to see that see was in the medicine cat den, and saw Jaypaw laying down right beside her, and smiled, remembering the dream she had. The apprentice went to try to snuggle closer but pain shot up everywhere in her body. Y/A/N then remembered why she was in the medicine cat den in the first place. Right, the badgers....  She thought. Y/A/N just looked at Jaypaw, content with him being so close to her. 

Jaypaw woke up pretty quickly after Y/A/N had, and he scented Y/A/N to check on her wounds. "Morning Jaypaw" She said weakly. Jaypaw smiled and after making sure her wounds weren't getting infected, he glanced at the moon. "Well, it doesn't look like the sun is coming up yet" He said, then laid back down, close enough to Y/A/N that their noses were almost touching. "Hey, how are you feeling anyways?" He asked the she-cat. "Like my whole body is on fire" She said, looking at Jaypaw. the blind tom nuzzled her. "Well, you did fight two badgers, so it makes sense" "Actually I fought a badger kit. I didn't land anything on the mother" Y/A/N replied, which made Jaypaw chuckle.

Soon enough, the two heard Leafpool stirring, so Jaypaw got up, despite Y/A/Ns complaining. Jaypaw padded over to the herb store to look for a painkiller herb for Y/A/N as Leafpool padded over to the injured apprentice. "Oh, you're awake Y/A/N!" She exclaimed, noticing the apprentices eyes open. "Yeah, I am. Everything hurts though..." She said, trying her best not to move at all. Leafpool sighed. "Well, you do have wounds pretty much everywhere so of course you'd be hurting everywhere. It'll be a little while before you can even move, let alone stand or walk." The medicine cat explained as Jaypaw came back with some willow bark.

The medicine cat apprentice had Y/A/N drink some of juice from the willow bark. "There you go. That should help ease the pain" Jaypaw said as Y/A/N ingested the juice. Y/A/N gulped the juice down. "Thanks Jaypaw" She said. "Still try not to move though. Not only will it take a bit for the juice to work, but you don't wanna re-open your wounds" Leafpool said, and Y/A/N nodded.

Leafpool left the medicine cat den, and as she disappeared into the hollow, Hollypaw padded in. "Hey Jaypaw, how is- Oh you're awake!" She said, looking at Y/A/N. "Are you ok? What happened? How did you end up so injured?" She asked, quite concerned.

"Ok Hollypaw, you should probably slow down. She just woke up after nearly dying" Jaypaw said. Hollypaw nodded. "Alright. Well, can you at least tell me what happened Y/A/N?" Y/A/N weakly nodded.

"Well, I had a weird dream during the night and woke up because of it. I couldn't go back to sleep so I went to the lake to clear my head. There I saw two Shadowclan kits playing, and I went to ask them what they were even doing outside of the Shadowclan camp when a badger kit came up. It was going to go after the kits so I attacked it so the kits could get back to their camp. I think I almost drove it away when its mother attacked me. I think I hit a tree and it began clawing me, but that's about all I remember..." Y/A/N explained.

Hollypaw was listening intently to Y/A/Ns story. "Wow, so you had a fight with a badger protecting kits? That's so brave of you!" She said. "And it would also explain the Shadowclan warriors helping Cloudtail get you back." Y/A/N smiled at the other apprentice.

"Well, it's been nice, but Y/A/N's got to heal, and you've probably got training or something, so shoo" Jaypaw said, slightly pushing his sister towards the entrance of the den. Hollypaw giggled "Alright Jaypaw, I'll leave you two alone" She teased, which resulted in the blind tom practically shoving her out.

Once Hollypaw had left, Y/A/N could see Jaypaw poke his head out, scent the area for a moment before coming back in and sit next to the she-cat. She looked up at him. "Now it's your turn to be embarrassed by her" She teased, remembering Hollypaw tease Y/A/N about her feelings for Jaypaw. The tom looked down in Y/A/Ns direction. "What do you mean? She figure out your feelings?" Y/A/N nodded. Jaypaw stared at her for a couple moments before leaning down and grooming Y/A/Ns fur.

Y/A/N didn't complain, she just closed her eyes and leaned her head into Jaypaw as he groomed her. Once the tom had tamed the she-cats fur, he moved on to his own pelt. Y/A/N shifted her head, feeling Jaypaw change positions.

Neither apprentice noticed it when Leafpool returned, who had left to grab some herbs as patrols went out. She had a bunch of them in her mouth and had stopped when she saw the two, Jaypaw grooming himself as Y/A/N was dozing off with her head cuddling up to the blind tom. Jaypaw finally noticed his mentor when he had finished and scented her standing there.

"Uh, how long have you been there Leafpool?" He asked, which then alerted Y/A/N to the medicine cats presence, the injured apprentice opening her eyes. She could feel her pelt heat up as she saw Leafpool looking at them. "Well, I've been standing here long enough to see that you two seem to like each other" She said, and went into the herb store before either apprentice could say anything.

"Well Jaypaw, I don't think we're keeping this from Leafpool anymore" Y/A/N said. "I guess not. But I doubt she'll say anything to anyone." Jaypaw said "Although having any cat find out this soon is going to be a problem..."

"Probably" Y/A/N said. "But I agree. I don't think Leafpool would snitch either" She mused. Jaypaw got up. "Well, I've gotta go help Leafpool. Don't even think about re-opening your wounds Y/A/N. I swear you'll never leave if you do" He said, making the she-cat chuckle. "I don't think that would be a punishment for me though" Jaypaw just stared at her with his blind gaze for a moment before shaking his head and disappearing into the herb store. Y/A/N laid her head back down and dozed off again, thinking about Jaypaw as she fell asleep.
