Chapter 5

Y/A/N and Brightheart entered the hollow, Y/A/N proudly carrying her vole. "You can put your catch in the fresh-kill pile" She said, pointing at the pile with her tail. "Then you can go chat with the other apprentices"

Y/A/N nodded and went over the the fresh-kill pile, dropping the vole into it and looked around. She saw a few of the apprentices chatting with each other, and Y/A/N was about to head over there until she noticed Jaypaw entering the hollow, mouth full of herbs.

So instead she padded over to him, walking beside him as he headed to the medicine cat den. "So, how was your first day as an apprentice?" He asked through the herbs.

"It was really fun! Brightheart showed me all the borders and I even caught a vole down by the lake!" She said excitedly. "Good for you Y/A/N. You're really lucky to have Brightheart as your mentor" He said.

Y/A/N smiled and her pelt started to heat up as they entered the medicine cat den. Jaypaw went and put the herbs away, then came back over to Y/A/N. "So, is that all? You didn't hurt yourself already, did you?" He asked, scenting around Y/A/N.

"No, I'm fine. I just wanted to talk with you" She said. "Well, I'm headed over to the elders den to replace their bedding" Y/A/N shrugged "I'll come with. I've got nothing else to do today"

Jaypaw grabbed some moss "Hey, I was also going to do the nursery, so if you're gonna come then can you grab some more moss? That way we're not making a second trip for the moss for the nursery"

Y/A/N nodded and grabbed some moss herself, and the two apprentices left the den and went over to the elders first. Mousefur and Longtail were chatting away with each other, but stopped when they noticed Jaypaw and Y/A/N entering.

"Hey Jaypaw, Y/A/N! What brings you to the elders den?" Mousefur asked "I don't think I have any fleas right now" to which Y/A/N purred in amusement at the elders comment.

"Gladly, no, we're not checking for fleas right now Mousefur. We're just renewing your bedding" Jaypaw said

"Oh good, this bedding is getting hard to sleep on" The elder said. She got up and guided Longtail out of the den, presumably to bask in the sun as the apprentices changed the bedding. Jaypaw showed Y/A/N how a nest should be made. They made the elders nest, and Jaypaw grabbed the old bedding while Y/A/N carried some new moss for the nursery.

The two left the elders den and Jaypaw signlaed for Y/A/N to go to the nursery. "Go replace the nursery's bedding while I toss out this old bedding" Y/A/N nodded and went over to the nursery, dodging Icekit and Foxkit playing outside.

She nodded to Ferncloud and Daisy who was sitting right outside the nursery, talking and watching the two kits play. "Hey Y/A/N! How is it being an apprentice?" Daisy asked. "It's really fun!" Y/A/N answered through the moss.

"Bet you won't be saying that when you're checking Mousefur for fleas" Ferncloud said and Y/A/N smiled. "Well, I've already done that. I liked Mousefurs stories about the old forest you guys used to live in"

Ferncould chuckled "Sure, it's fun now. But just wait until she bores you to death with all of her stories" Y/A/N giggled and headed into the nursery, changing out all the bedding inside for the queens and kits.

As she was changing it out, she heard the kits squeal "Hey Hollypaw, will you show us some battle moves!" Then Y/A/N could hear the apprentice answer "Sorry guys, not today. I'm looking for Y/A/N"

The P/C she-cat could hear Ferncloud say something, and soon enough Y/A/N could scent Hollypaw enter the nursery. "Hey Y/A/N! Are you in trouble already?" She asked, and Y/A/N replied; "No, I'm just helping Jaypaw out"
