Morning light shone into the apprentice den as Y/A/N felt a paw prod her side. She sleepily tried to swat the paw away, then heard "Come on Y/A/N, get up. We're doing a morning patrol." The apprentice opened her eyes to see Brightheart standing there. "Ok, ok, I'm up" She said, yawning and doing a quick stretch before following Brightheart out of the den. They padded over to where Brambleclaw was organizing patrols. He turned towards the two she-cats as they approached. "Ah, finally got Y/A/N up" He said "You guys will be on a patrol to the Shadowclan border with Birchfall, Thornclaw, and Poppypaw" He said. Y/A/N nodded and Brambleclaw dismissed everycat. The Shadowclan border patrol made their way out of the hollow and began making their way to the edge of the Shadowclan border. "So, do you enjoy being a Thunderclan apprentice yet?" Poppypaw asked Y/A/N. "Yeah! I'm really loving it in Thunderclan! Even if it does get tiring heh" The P/C apprentice replied. "Yeah, all us apprentices usually get tired on our first day. I heard you tried to nap on Jaypaw" She said "Wait, where did you hear that?" Y/A/N asked. Poppypaw giggled. "I think Hollypaw and Lionpaw saw it, but I heard it from Berrypaw. It kind of went through all of the apprentices, and I'll bet some warriors heard too, so probably every cat's going to have known by the time we get back" Y/A/N felt her pelt heat up, and she could find anything to say. Poppypaw seemed to sense it but the patrol had made it to the Shadowclan border so she didn't say anything.

"Alright, let's have our apprentices rotate in marking the border, get Y/A/N used to it" Thornclaw was saying to Brightheart and Birchfall. The other two warriors nodded. He then turned to the apprentices. "Poppypaw, you'll do the first one, then Y/A/N, and so on" The apprentices nodded and Poppypaw went up to the marker and renewed it, and the patrol made their way down to the next marker. Y/A/N shook off what Poppypaw had said, leaving it for something she'd deal with when they returned to the hollow. She went up and marked the border, and the patrol continued.

The patrol was close to being finished the Shadowclan border, and Y/A/N was just marking a part of the border when a Shadowclan patrol came up, doing the same thing. "Ah, Thunderclan's taking in more loners?" One of the Shadowclan warriors sneered. "So? I think it means Thunderclan's stronger than any other clan, and I think it makes you guys scared of us" Y/A/N said before any other cat could say anything. The warriors scoffed and just signaled his patrol to keep going, and the Thunderclan patrol did the same. Brightheart padded to match Y/A/Ns pace. "Hey, good job keeping your cool" She said. Y/A/N smiled "Well, I just kind of matched what you told the Windclan patrol, and hoped it wouldn't start anything" Y/A/N replied. "Well, they might've also learned from trying to take territory before." Y/A/N chuckled at her mentors words.

"Alright! We're done the Shadowclan border so lets head back to the hollow!" Thornclaw announced to his patrol. The cats nodded and the patrol made their way back to the hollow, and just after sunhigh they were padding through the bramble entrance. Thornclaw waved his tail. "Alright, you guys are free to do whatever you want for the rest of the day" He said to the apprentices. "Unless you have tasks for yours, Brightheart?" He turned to the one-eyed warrior. She shook her head in response. "Not today, she's free to go as well" Thornclaw turned back and nodded his head. Poppypaw and Y/A/N padded away from the patrol. "Well, no one else is back yet, wanna just sit and talk?" Poppypaw asked. "Sure!" Y/A/N nodded.

The two apprentices padded over to the entrance of the apprentice den, but sat outside the entrance. "So, what has Brightheart taught you so far?" The tortoiseshell she-cat asked. "Well, we did a bunch of fighting moves yesterday, and my first day was exploring the territory." Y/A/N answered. "Yeah, didn't you catch something on your first day, no hunting training yet?" "Yeah, I did. But I actually taught myself to hunt, because I had to live on my own, which was for a few moons before I came into Thunderclan." "Oh, did you not have any cat to teach you before? No mom or dad?" "Well, actually, I don't remember either of them. I assume either they abandoned me or were killed somehow. I don't have a guaranteed answer though" "Aww, I'm sorry. It must have been so hard!" "At first it was, but it turned out pretty good, wouldn't you say?" Poppypaw nodded "Yeah, you did end up finding Jaypaw and joining Thunderclan, so I'd also say it did end up well" Y/A/N smiled, but noticed Jaypaw padding across the hollow, herbs in his mouth. She watched him for a moment, then felt a prod. "Uh, Y/A/N? You there?" The P/C apprentice shook her head and turned to face Poppypaw "Sorry, I got distracted. What were you saying?" "Well, I was saying that we should probably go grab some fresh-kill for Mousefur and Longtail, but-" She glanced over at Jaypaw just disappearing into the medicine cat den. "-I think I see what you were distracted by. Do you have some kind of feelings for Jaypaw?"

Why does everyone notice that?  Y/A/N thought before answering Poppypaw "No.... I just noticed he had returned, which made me realize the time, and I was just thinking about how everyone else was going to come back soon...." Y/A/N trailed off, then spurted "We should just go get fresh-kill for the elders!" She jumped up and hurriedly padded over to the fresh-kill pile, grabbing a mouse, not noticing Poppypaws mischievous smirk. The other apprentice padded after Y/A/N, grabbing a couple voles and they both padded over to the elders den. "Here, you go give that mouse to the elders, I'll give these voles to Daisy, Ferncloud, and the kits" She said. Y/A/N nodded and they parted ways, Y/A/N making her way into the elders den.

Mousefur and Longtail were in their nests, sharing tongues when the apprentice entered. "Oh hey Y/A/N! How's apprentice life treating you?" Mousefur asked. Y/A/N dropped the mouse she brought at the elders paws. "Pretty good! I got to go on my first patrol today!" She said proudly. "Good for you! First patrols are always fun!" Mousefur said, then Longtail piped in. "Yeah, I remember my first patrol. It was a bit harder along the Riverclan border, with Sunningrocks being such a dispute back then" He reminisced. "Yeah, a lot of battles were fought over those rocks. They were great for basking though" Mouse agreed with the blind elder. Y/A/N giggled as she listened to the elders talk about the old forest. "I guess I can understand why you fought with Riverclan for that." She said. Mousefur nodded. "Well, don't let us old-timers take up too much of your time. Go get some fresh-kill for yourself" She said. Y/A/N nodded and left the elders den, hearing Longtail say "You're the old-timer Mousefur, not me" and heard the she-cat chuckle.

Y/A/N was padding across the clearing, now bustling as patrols had returned. She grabbed a squirrel and turned to find a spot to eat when she noticed Jaypaw exiting the medicine cat den. She bounded up to the medicine cat apprentice. "Hey Jaypaw! Wanna share a squirrel with me?" She asked. "Sure, just don't fall asleep on me this time." Y/A/N giggled as the two padded over to a quiet corner of the hollow. "Well, you are warm and comfy, so no guarantees'" She teased as the two sat down. "Well, if you do, I'm moving and letting you fall" Jaypaw replied, taking a bite of the squirrel. "Meanie" Y/A/N said, then started eating herself. Jaypaw rolled his blind eyes, and the two just sat in silence eating, although Y/A/N didn't mind the silence, as she enjoyed just eating with Jaypaw.

As the two finished their meal, Jaypaw got up and stretched, and Y/A/N just watched the tom. Jaypaw seemed to sense it and turned towards her. "What's up Y/A/N?" He asked, and Y/A/N averted her gaze "Uh n-nothing! Not doing anything at all.... nope!" She said nervously. Jaypaw tilted his head "Ooook? That was an odd response" Jaypaw shrugged "Well anyways, I'm going back to the medicine cat den" He said, and padded away from Y/A/N. The she-cat watched him leave, then sighed and got up herself, heading over to the apprentice den. I wish I could tell Jaypaw how I felt about him  She thought as she curled in her nest and drifted off to sleep.
