Y/A/N woke up, stretching out and yawning. She started padding over to the exit of the den, but heard a small yowl. She stopped and realized she stepped on a tail. "Watch where you're walking!" She heard from Lionpaw. "Sorry Lionpaw!" She whispered. "What are you even doing up so early? Patrols aren't even going out yet." Y/A/N looked outside the den and realized the sun wasn't even up yet. "I guess I couldn't sleep much. Sorry again" She said. Lionpaw grumbled and laid back down. Y/A/N left the den, careful to not tread on any more tails. She went out to the clearing and looked around, seeing no other cat up yet. Wow, Lionpaw wasn't kidding when he said it was early. No one's up besides me  She thought, and went over to the basking rocks, sitting beside them and began grooming herself. By the time she was done, cats had started to wake up and come into the clearing as the sun started rising. "Up already Y/A/N?" Brambleclaw, the clan deputy asked. "Yeah, I couldn't sleep" Brambleclaw smiled "Well, it's better than sleeping in till sunhigh" He said, going over to the highrock to start organizing patrols.

Better than sleeping in?  Y/A/N thought Jaypaw must have mentioned it  She smiled when she thought of the medicine cat apprentice, but remembered what Lionpaw had told her about the medicine cat code. She sighed, then padded over to where Brambleclaw was organizing patrols. She watched him send out the last patrol, then he looked over at her. "Something wrong, Y/A/N?" He asked. "Uh, no, nothings wrong. I was just watching to how patrols were made" She said. The deputy smiled. "Alright. You're quite eager to learn about clan life, aren't you?' He teased. "Well, yeah, I guess" Brambleclaw padded up to the apprentice "Don't worry, you're fine. You've only just joined Thunderclan so no cats going to hold it against you for trying to find out anything about clan life, or not knowing something about it, no matter how simple it might be" He said. Y/A/N felt reassured by the deputy's words, and smiled. Brambleclaw then looked past Y/A/N and flagged a cat down, when Y/A/N looked, she saw it was Brightheart. Her mentor padded up to the two. "Hey Brambleclaw, Y/A/N!" She said cheerfully. "Hey Brightheart, how about you try training Y/A/N with some combat today?" Brightheart nodded "Sure! I was planning on it, she seems to have hunting already down" Brambleclaw nodded "I heard she already caught a vole on her first day" Y/A/N smiled with pride

Brambleclaw left the two, padding over to Firestar. Probably to discuss some clan things  Y/A/N figured. "Come on Y/A/N, let's go to the training hollow" Y/A/N nodded and followed her mentor out. They padded out of the hollow and Brightheart led Y/A/N to the training hollow. "Stand here and I'll show you some basic fighting moves" Y/A/N nodded and stayed in the spot Brightheart had told her to stay. Brightheart padded a few pawsteps away and turned to face Y/A/N. "Alright, lets start with something pretty basic. Try to attack me, but keep your claws sheathed" She said, then got into a defensive position. Y/A/N took a moment to try and analyze Brighthearts pose, then attempted to go for her right side, but Brightheart easily ducked under a swipe and retaliated with a swipe to Y/A/Ns paws, tripping her. This allowed Brightheart to put her front paws on the apprentice, pinning her. "Nice try. You might not want to just run straight at me, regardless of where it was aimed. Try using a misdirect" Brightheart got off Y/A/N. "Easiest way is to make it look like you're going to attack me in one place, but switch it up and attack me somewhere else. Looking at where you want to attack me is also a giveaway, so also make sure your gaze is where you're trying to trick your enemy into thinking where you'll attack, when you're actually attacking a different area. Let's go again" She explained. Y/A/N nodded and got up, and retried her attack attempt.

Brightheart trained Y/A/N for almost the entire day, alongside some of the other apprentices. As the sun was setting down, the mentors called their apprentices to return to the hollow, and Y/A/N followed Brightheart back. As she entered the hollow, she saw every other cat in the hollow already, and she tiredly padded over to the fresh-kill pile, but Hollypaw padded up to her first. "Hey Y/A/N! How was training today? You seem tired" She asked "Yeah, Brightheart had me do battle training, and we did that all day, so I'm pretty beat" She said. "Here, go sit with Jaypaw, and I'll bring you something for you two to share" Hollypaw said with a smiled "What makes you think I'm sharing with Jaypaw?" Y/A/N said, which earned a look from Hollypaw "Yeah, I'm definitely going to if he agrees" Y/A/N said, and headed over to where Jaypaw was sitting. "Hey Jaypaw!" She said as she approached. "Hey, Y/A/N" Jaypaw said, but the she-cat noticed his ears perk up. "You're tired I assume?" He said, which left Y/A/N a bit surprised as she sat down beside him. "How could you tell?" She asked. "Well, your paw steps sound different. More sluggish and you weren't moving as fast" Y/A/N just hummed in response.

Hollypaw came over and dropped a couple wood mice at their feet "Why did you bring us fresh-kill? Do you think we're elders or something?" Jaypaw asked his sister "No, not that" She replied before padding away. Jaypaw shrugged and began eating a wood mouse. Y/A/N looked at him for a moment before digging into her own. Jaypaw noticed that he kept feeling a touch every so often on his shoulder. "Y/A/N?" He asked. "Mhm?" She mumbled, having some mouse in her jaws. "How tired are you exactly?" Y/A/N gulped down what she had. "I'm not too tired, mainly exhausted. Why?" "Nothing, don't worry about it." Y/A/N gave Jaypaw a confusing look but shrugged it off, and kept tiredly eating. Jaypaw paid attention to Y/A/N, until he was finishing off his wood mouse and stopped for one moment, then he felt something lean onto him. "Uh, Y/A/N?" He asked, but there was no response. He scented what was leaning on him and realized that it was Y/A/N, and then heard her soft snoring. Of course she does that  He thought. Jaypaw prodded Y/A/N in the ribs with his paw, which woke her. "Ow, what was that for?" She asked groggily. "You fell asleep on me. You should probably go to the apprentice den now" Y/A/N felt her pelt heat up. "Oh, I'm sorry Jaypaw. I guess I didn't realize just how tired I was...." Jaypaw shook his head. "It's fine. Just next time when you get tired after training or patrol, just head back to your nest with your fresh-kill" "Okay Jaypaw" Y/A/N said, and headed away to the apprentice den for the night.
