( n.) the delusion of things being more beautiful than the really are.
It was the day of the wedding, and Rooh was busy assisting everyone, rushing back and forth. The function was on the verge of commencing, and yet she found herself unprepared.
"Gudiya, please get ready as the guests are about to arrive," her mother instructed, to which Rooh nodded in agreement.
She adorned herself in a magneta kurti paired with loose bottoms, styled elegantly with a draped dupatta. While her face exhibited a subtle touch of makeup, her lips donned a dark shade of lipstick that she had discretely borrowed from Zartasha.
As the guests began to arrive, Rooh warmly welcomed them, joining in the festivities and participating in the customary rituals. She had the opportunity to meet her brother-in-law, Saim, along with his family, and she was genuinely impressed by their demeanor. Rooh playfully teased her cousin, wiggling her eyebrows on occasions. Saim had graciously introduced Rooh to his friends, amongst whom Azlaan seemed particularly engrossed, as if he had never encountered a woman before.
Azlaan Hakeem, a gentleman of remarkable appearance, seemed to captivate the attention of every single woman except for Rooh. From the moment he laid eyes on her, he was left breathless and openly displayed his interest in her. He had resolved to discuss his intentions with his parents and request their assistance in proposing marriage. Although he acknowledged the age difference between them, he was willing to patiently wait, considering that she would soon reach the age of 18.
Occasionally, Rooh noticed his lingering gaze but dismissed it without much thought. Upon the conclusion of the event, Azlaan confided in Saim about his feelings for Rooh and asked him to contact Zartasha to verify whether Rooh would be open to commencing a relationship or if he would need to court her. Saim, knowing Azlaan to be a sincere individual rather than one who engages in casual relationships, conversed with Zartasha about him and assured her of his genuine character. Zartasha now gazed at Rooh with a wide grin, who in turn looked back at her, puzzled.
"What happened appi ?" Rooh inquired.
"May I inquire if there is someone whom you have affection for, Rooh?" she inquired, causing Rooh to become speechless.
"Why do you bring up this question so suddenly?" Rooh managed to utter.
"I raise this query because Azlaan holds an admiration for you and wishes to converse with your parents regarding marriage," she delivered surprising news to Rooh, who felt the entire world spinning.
"No, he would never proceed with that. I shall decline," Rooh exclaimed while shaking her head.
"Why, Rooh? Is there someone else?" She narrowed her eyes.
"Absolutely not!" Rooh exclaimed forcefully.
Rooh felt her entire world spinning, prompting her to swiftly rise and proceed to the guest room where she was currently residing. She swiftly took a shower and changed into her pajamas. Overwhelmed by worry, she collapsed onto her bed, her thoughts consumed by anxiety. She reached a point where she could no longer think straight, and thus, she decided to call Kudsiya.
