I woke up early and couldn't go back to sleep. I lay there thinking of a good plan. I then did my morning things and then woke Steven and Aurora. I shook Steven, making him wake up and blink his big eyes. He ruffled his feathers some and stretched his wings. He looked down at Aurora and nudged her with his beak. She yawned and stretched out her own limbs.

"So I have good news and bad news," I stated as Steven began to shift into human form. He leaned back on the wall beside his bed and nodded tiredly. Aurora hummed and flew over to the window edge.

"I got info on the vampires," I began, and Steven smiled, "but they are terrorizing this village," I continued, and he frowned, Aurora gasped.

"Ok, but I have a question," Steven replied as his face grew suspicious, "how did you find out this info," he questioned, putting up an eyebrow. I shifted nervously on my feet.

"Well, the girl I met yesterday came and told me, now we are going to help them," I explained, leaving out a few details. Steven stared for a moment, then brightened up.

"Great," he exclaimed and got up, turning to look through his bag. I glanced at Aurora, and she definitely looked like she suspected something. I gave her a small nervous smile, and she huffed. "Well, what are we waiting for. Let's go," Steven insisted and marched out the door after setting Aurora on his shoulder.

I sighed and followed after them. Thankfully, I did not see janett as we went through the inn to get outside. Once outside, I looked around and then smiled as my eyes landed on Donna. I walked over to her, and she smiled when she saw me. We stared at each other for a moment, and they looked away embarrassed.

"This is Donna, Donna this is Steven and Aurora," I introduced them. Steven smiled widely at her, and Aurora hummed a greeting.

"Wow, I have not seen a fairy in some time," she exclaimed as her eyes lit up, looking at Aurora. Aurora looked away, embarrassed as she waved her hand dismissively. "Well, let's get to the elders' house," she said happily and turned around, walking into the village. We followed her along, soon coming up to a huge house with two guards in front of the doors. Both half shifted and fierce looking, but Donna went up to them like it was nothing.

"Excuse us, the elder is expecting them," she firmly stated, and they nodded at her and opened the doors. We walked inside a dim hallway and turned into a big room with an old lady sitting on a couch at the center, reading a book. She had white hair with gray streaks and sliver eyes and looked to be about 5'2. She did not look up when we entered the room. Just keep reading her book.

We nervously stood at the entrance for a long few moments that felt like an eternity. "Are you going to stand or will you sit," she suddenly said, still reading her book. We flinched at her sudden talking, then slowly made our way to the couch across from her and sat down.

"Donna tells me you, youngsters, are going to solve our problem," she stated calmly, then looked up from her book for the first time. Her old eyes fiercely looked into mine. I gulped nervously as she slowly looked at us. "Now, why should I believe you can do something that we couldn't for 17 years," she continued as she gazed up at us. Making me feel like a mouse that she is playing with.

"Well, elder -" I started nervously, but she interrupted me.

"Madin, Elder Madin, the snow leopard," she introduced herself, i slowly nodded and then continued.

"The vampires took something from me, and I will do anything to get it back, but I don't know where they are," I explained as anger seeped into me at the thought of them. She nodded and looked at me curiously.

"No one knows where the vampires reside, but the vampires themselves," she mentioned as she set her book down and crossed her arms over her chest. I guessed that already, but I am glad she confirmed my suspension. She stared into my eyes, trying to figure me out.

"That is why we will ambush them and question them," I firmly stated, staring right back into her eyes, no longer nervous. She stayed silent for a moment, then began laughing, then laughed harder. I felt myself get hotter as I grew more angry.

"Do you not think we have tried? They have many chupacabras at their sides and even more vampires hidden in the shadows," she laughed, smirking at me. That was it, I was pissed. I stood up and shifted to my half form, flaring up.

"I DO NOT CARE IF THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF THEM," I screeched at her, "they took my mother, I. Will. Find. Them." I fiercely stated. Everyone in the room stared at me, surprised, and then Elder Madin bowed her head at me.

"I am sorry for offending you great phoenix," she mumbled respectfully, and I saw Donna bow her head out of the corner of my eye. I huffed, letting my fire disappear.

"You do not need to do that," I sighed, calming down and taking my seat again, patting out some fire that was on the couch. "I have a plan to help us both, but I need your help," I told her calmly as she nodded and looked up with newfound respect in her eyes.

"I will aid you in whatever you need, phoenix," she replied with a new determination. I sadly smiled and looked down.

"That term is for my mom, not me," I sadly stated, "I am just half breed of phoenix and were-peacock," I chuckled at my own powerlessness, thinking of how I could not even protect my mother.

"What I saw a moment ago was not a young man, I saw a powerful phoenix ready to burn down a mountain if he had to. Do not think little of yourself," she scolded me. I nodded at her words, taking them in. She is right, I can do this.

I looked back up, a fire burning in my eyes, I raised my wings and folded them in front of me. "Here is the plan," I began as I leaned forward, everyone listening intently.
