Felix pov~
Aurora was at the front of the castle with the pixies. We had put many honey apples in a spot, luring the pixies to them. It didn't take long before hundreds of them had swarmed. Then we caged the pixies in with Aurora's roots.
Steven and I had sneakily threw honey apples at the front of the castle so when Aurora let them go, they would head toward them. Distracting the guards and making them get rid of the pixies.
Both Steven and Aurora would wait outside as I went in and would tell me if the guards were going back.
I waited at the back of the castle for Steven to give the signal that Aurora had released them. He sent a hoot my way, and a few moments later, I heard shouts, and the guards ran towards the front. I quickly flew up the side of the castle and onto the top balcony. I changed back to human form and ran inside through the balcony doors. I only had about 10 minutes until they got back to their post.
I silently made my way through the halls, looking for any room that stood out. I rounded a corner, then quickly darted back behind it. There were two guards standing by a large set of doors at the far side wall. That must be the room, but how to get past them.
I stood there and thought, trying to come up with something, but I could not. I decided I would just have to kill the two guards and then hide their ashes.
I took a deep breath, ready to attack them, when I heard lots of foot steps coming from their way. My heart skipped a beat, and I thought. Did they find me out. I thought I had been perfectly quiet. I held my breath as they got closer and prepared to attack them.
"Ugh, stupid pest," a guard growled as it ran up to them. I heard them stop by the doors.
"What is it," a second guard asked curiously.
"Pixies, making them run around like headless chickens," chuckled a third guard.
"I have got to see this," the second guard said, and they left back from the way they came. I stood there for a moment, then peaked around the corner. They were gone... there is no way it is that easy.
I quickly ran to the doors and entered them, closing them behind me. I looked around at the empty office. I had just entered and went to the desk. It had papers scattered all across it.
I glanced through them, then saw one that had a unique wax seal on it, broken open. I picked it up and read through it out loud.
"'Now that we have the phoenix egg, we will do the corruption hatching ritual in 5 days. It will be at the first master's castle. Soon, that phoenix will be completely under our control,' what.." I read aloud to myself, horrified. They plan to turn my mother into their pet. I felt my body grow hotter. I stopped myself before I burned the paper. This was from two days ago, so we have three days.
I looked back through the desk and found a map. It had the first master's castle location. It was west from where I was and a two day journey. I shifted to my bird and grabbed the map with my talons, then I flew out of the window in the room.
Below, the guards were still distracted by the pixies. I made a tiny bird sound to tell Aurora and Steven I was out. I landed some distance away at the spot we agreed on. Our stuff was lying there, and I threw down the map angrily at the pile. I started pacing back and forth till they got there.
They landed in front of me and looked worried by my behavior. "Did you not find it," Steven asked, worried as he shifted to human form. I stopped and looked at them, fire starting to ripple across my feathers, and i ruffled them angrily.
"I found it alright," I hissed at them, and they looked back at me confused. "They plan on corrupting her and making her their PET," I yelled, completely on fire at that point as i fanned out my tail feathers.
"Calm down and explain what happened," Aurora said in a soothing voice. I took a deep breath and calmed back down, let my fire burn out. I sighed, shifting back to human form, and nodded to her.
"I found a paper stating that they took her to the first master's castle and will do a ritual in three days to corrupt her and be able to control her," I explained to them sadly then picked up the map from the ground. "It is a two day journey there," I told them and pointed at the place, then rolled up the map and shoved it into my bag.
"Don't you worry, we will get there before they can harm your mom," Steven assured me in a serious tone as he put his hand on my shoulder. I looked over at Aurora, and she nodded her agreement. I smiled at them.
"Thank you," I mumbled as I looked down at the ground. They both came to me and pulled me into a hug. I am glad to have good friends like them by my side. We pulled apart, all of our faces set in determination.
"We have a day to spare," Steven pointed out with a smirk on his face.
"You never know what we will encounter, like the cyclops and river," I grumbled as I picked up my bag and put it on my back. Steven shrugged and grabbed his bag, putting it on as well.
"What is the worst that could happen," he cheerfully said as he walked forward. Me and Aurora shared a look and then shook our heads. We followed behind him.
"Village to protect vampires from, basilisk, one of us nearly dieing, cyclops, pixies, golem, vampires, chupacabras, danger predicting space jellies," I started to count off and Steven faltered in his walk for a moment.
"Yah, and that was the worst that could happen," he stated as he turned around, facing us, walking backward. He grined at us, and I rolled my eyes. He is going to be the death of us. I glanced at Aurora, and she was just smiling at him. Hmmm... something is definitely going on between them, I just don't know what.
