Westley pov~

"Recently, there has been sightings of a creature that has a very dangerous energy. We are unsure of what it is yet," Elder Raymond said grimly and looked around the table at all 6 of us. There was Sera, an eagle, the head of our ground warriors. Oscar, a falcon, the head of our flying warriors. Nadine, a dove, the head healer. Victor is a humming bird, the second in command of flying warriors. Emma is a woodpecker, the head builder, and Victor's sister. Me the second in command ground fighter. And the elder himself is a bald eagle.

"Which is why we should hunt it down," Sera growled beside me as she crossed her arms and leaned back in her chair.

"It has not bothered us. It is possible it will go away," Elder Raymond put in as he looked over to Sera. Sera's face grew more angry than it was before.

"That is exactly my point!" She hissed and griped the table hard. "Are we just going to sit here preening our feathers till it attacks one of us," she threw her hands in the air for added effect. She has always had quite the temper.

"But going after it will push it to attack us, and we still don't know what it is," Nadine calmly stated and folded her hands in her lap. The elder nodded in agreement.

"Then might I propose that I send a flock of fly warriors to investigate it safely from a distance?" Oscar proposed proudly, obviously trying to take control, and glanced around the table to see the reactions. Everyone seemed to think it was good. I can't believe I am about to agree with him. I looked over at Sera to see she had calmed a bit, satisfied with the offer.

"I think it a good idea," Elder Raymond agreed as he nodded his head. "Who stands with Oscar's idea?" Elder Raymond asked as he put his own hand in the air in silent agreement.

"Agreed," the rest of us replied in unison, I saw Oscar smirk in the corner of my sight.

"Then I will leave that planning to you, Oscar, and your second, Victor," the elder concluded, and a small smile spread on his face. Oscar and Victor nodded respectfully towards him. "Now onto the next order of business, the planning of the new bath house." He quickly changed the subject.

"Ok ok ok, so I was thinking..," Emma instantly began rambling on about the building plans. I sighed softly, knowing this would take a while. I looked over to Sera and saw she was thinking the same. She glanced towards me and rolled her eyes, i stifled a laugh.

After the meeting

I got up from my chair and stretched out my arms and legs. That meeting took a very long time, and my nest at home sounds like heaven. I walked up to the doors to leave. Most elders had already left.

"Hey Westley," Sera called out to me from back at the table. I turned towards her as she jogged up to me, her long brown hair rushing behind her. I could tell by the stubborn look in her gray eyes that it was serious.

"Something that you need, sera?" I asked, putting up an eyebrow in question. She sighed, and I could tell that I was not going to like this.

"When, because I know that beast will not just go away, it comes down to having to hunt it and kill it... I want you there," she explained slowly so that I could consider the words carefully. "You and I both know you are the best fighter we have," she continued seeing my face, "I only became the head because you turned down the position," she stared at me waiting for an answer.

I stood there for a moment, thinking. When I was younger and with no ties to people. I would have said yes, but now I have a child to take care of. And he is about to start undergoing a big change, I can't risk it.

"Sera, you know I don't fight big anymore," I sighed and watched the disappointment go through her eyes, but soon it was overshadowed by stubbornness.

"Please, Westley, I would feel much better if I had you by my side," she continued almost in a plea, her mask faltering slightly. I gave her a small smile and shook my head.

"I can't risk it, Sera, I..." I began then quickly glanced around, making sure no one was near, "you know what is soon to happen with my son," I continued in a whisper. She hesitated for a moment, then signed in defeat, looking down.

"Fine. I'll stop asking for now, but please reconsider it," she conceded, then looked up at me. I just nodded and continued on my way out the door.

Sera and I were always doing something together when we were younger. We were very adventurous. I smiled, remembering all the things we did. We jumped  off of waterfalls and fought dangerous creatures. We even dated at one point but realized pretty fast that we preferred to be friends.

Then I found Felix's mother, fell in love, and didn't want to risk it anymore. Especially after what happened to her, and I was left having to take care of my son alone. I still remember coming back to the village after having been gone for 3 years, bloody and holding a child... and the egg. I went to Sera, who welcomed me with open arms and told her everything that had happened. She promised to keep the secret and helped me take care of my one year old child.

I looked up from my thoughts and realized I was already back home, I looked up at the moons. The big gray moon was halfway across the sky, and the small blue one almost disappeared behind the tall jungle trees. I sighed softly and went inside of my home. I looked towards the egg above the fireplace.

"I miss you so much, my love.." I mumbled quietly, then walked past the living room and down the hall. I took a glance at the room on the right at my son and saw he was sleeping nicely and soundly. I continued on with a smile on my face and entered the left room, my room. I sat gently on my nest and then layed down, trying not to make any noise. I fell asleep the instant my head touched my feather filled pillow.
